So yeah. First play. I'm not writing it on Word, I'm writing it on this free place called Scripped.com. It can format your script for you! Hope ya like it.
MAIN CHARACTERS IN THIS SCENE
SAM SAMLING
JOSIE-JO ALLENS
AUGUST BLU
FAY SAMLING "FAY-LO"
INT. SAMLING Kitchen-Northern California-night
SAMANTHA SAMLING bites her lip, slowly penning her answer on a sheet of homework. She checks the clock nervously, taps pencil, etc.
FAY (O.S.)
Sam? Did you finish your homework yet?
SAMANTHA
(exasperated)
You sound like mom, Fay-Lo.
FAY strides over to her sister, SAMANTHA, and frowns.
FAY
I found a tutor for you.
SAMANTHA slams pencil on table angrily.
SAMANTHA
You're not my mother! Mom's supposed to find the tutor, that's HER job, you're supposed to be in-in college or, like, something...
Fay
Mom is too busy cheating on Dad. Right now I'm your uncertified, unofficial mother. Besides, it's a nice tutor.
SAMANTHA
(mumbles)
I'm not letting her tutor me unless she's Mary Poppins.
FAY
Just finish your homework, all right?
CUT TO:
EXT. ALLENS backyard-Boston-dUSK
JOSIE-JOE ALLENS is sitting on her swinging chair, a slight breeze playing her hair. She turns the page of the novel she's reading, grins, and continues to read.
Mrs. Allens (O.S.)
Jo, sweet, are you quite done yet out there? It's getting dark soon.
JO
(perkily)
Momma, I'll come in in a seccie. I just need to finish this chapter for homework.
JO turns the page again, sighs, closes the book and puts it down, then strides back inside with a spring in her step.
CUT TO:
INT. AUGUST'S BEDROOM-NORTHERN CALIFORNIA-DAY
SAMANTHA and friend, AUGUST BLU, are watching a comedy movie. AUGUST is sitting, cross-legged, on the floor, and SAMANTHA is on his unmade bed.
SAMANTHA
(halfheartedly)
Guess what, Gusty.
August
(tauntingly)
Oh, let me guess: The real Samantha Samling has been abducted by aliens, and you're her clone, right?
SAMANTHA kicks AUGUST playfully.
SAMANTHA
I'm getting a tutor. No more hockey.
AUGUST
(Sarcastically)
You're really good at making jokes, Sam. Ha-ha.
SAMANTHA kicks AUGUST. AUGUST grimaces.
SAMANTHA
I'm serious, you doofus. I can't do hockey anymore.
AUGUST
(shocked)
But nobody can block the net like you! You're kidding!
SAMANTHA looks down and bites her lip. SAMANTHA forlornly turns off the TV.
SAMANTHA
(sadly)
I'm not. It sucks. And Fay's not even my mother! She's acting like she is, and she says that I'll appreciate all this, but I never will.
AUGUST pretends that he never heard this.
AUGUST
Look on the bright side. I got a new letter from my pen pal in Massachusetts.
SAMANTHA
Why would I be happy about that?
AUGUST
(reaching towards a LETTER)
She's cute.
SAMANTHA
(rolling eyes)
I'm not one of your guy friends, you know. I'm not gonna drool over some cute girl.
AUGUST
(indignantly)
Oh, fine then, I won't read you a letter from Jo.

I like it. I'm writing a play called After the Rain, but it isn't anything like yours, as it's about World War Two.
~Erin Marie
Oh yeah. I forgot to ask, you're going to write more, right? And, btw, you have me wanting to type of one of my plays and put it on here.
*sigh* I'll write more once I get this school project out of the way. :) I'll look forward to reading your play.
