All right. That was IT.
She started looking left and right, weaving all the while, looking for a niche to get out her gun.
Didn't they KNOW that she was the top Mafia assasin? Huh. Ridiculous. They were actually missing her at five meters! She decided that she, after all this was over, should write to her boss and inform him of the horrid quality of these people the Mafia were hiring. I mean, COME ON!
Aha. There it was. Ducking after a bullet whizzed above her head, which missed about 2 meters, she mentally calculated, she increased her speed, running on the very tips of her feet, glanced behind her to make sure Paul was right behind her, looked at the gunmen on second thought, mentally dissmissed their horribly unposh ski masks, and ducked into the alley.
Ana got out her gun, loaded and cocked it in a single motion, and aimed.
BANG! Off with the first guy's hat. BANG! Second guy's gun was out of his hand. She smirked (couldn't help it) at the bewildered look on the first one's face as she fired very narrowly next to his head, tearing off his mask, and at the second one's ungainly groping for his gun.
Paul quickly stuck his head out but put it back in as the first one fired again. Ana scowled. Couldn't they just give up? Well, if they didn't have grace and finesse, not to mention a horrible aim, at least they had the least bit of courage to keep coming. But too bad for them. It wasn't going to help them now.
She cleanly shot, both in quick sucession, at the two men, and went to them as soon as they were down. Paul followed her move as she checked the first man's pulse, checking the second one's. 'Dead,' he confirmed. She stood, cocked the gun again, and fired again at the first man. 'He's dead too. Let's go.' They started off, Ana glancing behind them.
'Why couldn't -' Paul's voice broke. Ana's face softened.
'Why couldn't I let him live? I'll tell you why.' She stopped and put her hands on his shoulders.
'Number one, if I did let him live, he would tell the Mafia where we went. Number two, he wasn't a family man or anything like that, and most likely would use the money he got from the Mafia for a woman and a drink.' 'How do you know?' 'Because I know this man.' She put her hands off his shoulders and started walking again, he pausing a moment, then following suit.
'And Number three. You have to understand that he would have done the same with us.'
For a few moments they continued walking, then she heard something and glanced behind her.
They both opened their mouths at the exact same time before they started running.
'Oh, COME ON!'
