A/N: ...um, hi...?
They crawled across the roof of the reseraunt. Their breaths were short and sounded exaughsted, and when they were finished, they peered in through the sunroof. But... no one was there.
"Wha--"
Who had broken through the window was now gone... it was almost as if they had vanished in thin air.
"I don't... I think... let's go."
Mira and Maggie nodded. Quietly, they reached the edge of the roof, and, because the building wasn't all that big, jumped. The bushes below provided a nice cushion as they landed.
"What should we do?" Mira asked. "There's no one that can help us... no one but..." Her face lit up. "Rick!"
Jesse grinned. "Yeah! ...wait, who exactly is Rick?"
"Rick's the head of the math team, science club, chess club, Language Arts team, came in second place in the 2009 Smartypants Competition... he's a nerd, and he could help us!"
"...uh..."
"C'mon!" Mira took off toward Sandy Lane. After a stunned few seconds, Maggie and Jesse followed. "Hey! Wait up!"

Rick was a nerd, alright. He had an ugly comb-over, a plaid vest, a buttoned-up shirt under that, chubby legs the size of a rhino's, and a squat body that made him look like an elf, which was even his nickname that students called him behind his back.
His glasses were chuncky rectangles. Without them, he could only see a few feet before himself, and even this is a bit fuzzy. Despite his vision, he could actually see things very well.
For example, an hour before Justin Johnson got knocked-out by a basketball, Rick had pleaded him not to play, but in the end, Justin still ended up in the hospital. Many other incidents had happened that made the students question him. Some of them even believed him to a psychic.
And this was the boy that stood before the three friends of Sandy Lane, California.
