As The Cake Crumbles- Chapter Twelve

Jesse again rolled his eyes.

“I’m sorry your dad is gonna be gutted like a fish…………” Mira said.

“MIRA NOT A GOOD TIME!” Maggie said.

Mira was very quiet.

“Wait if they know where we live, shouldn’t we……….." Jesse started to say. But he was interrupted by banging of a hammer on the window. The girls screamed. A man in black was trying to break in with a Cookie?

“Wait why is he breaking in with a cookie?” Maggie asked.

“The people trying to get the recipe are bakery people to!" Jesse said.

“Ok then……… What do we do????” Maggie yelled.

“I think my dad has an emergency escape hatch!” Jesse said

“WHY DOES YOUR DAD HAVE AN EMERGENCY ESCAPE HATCH?????” The girls yelled

“I’m guessing for this very reason……….." Jesse said

“Makes sense…………….” Mira said softly.

“At this point as weird as this is I’m not gonna ask questions……..” Maggie said.

“Uh Guys the man now has a cupcake blowtorch and I am NOT in the mood to die from a cupcake!” Mira yelled.

“None of us are!” Jesse yelled.

The kids ran down the hall to a closet…………………. That was marked Do not come in!

“Jesse? Why all these years you just realized there was an ESCAPE HATCH IN THIS CLOSET????” Maggie asked

“Well…….. Dad said not to go in there and the fonts PRETTY convincing!" Jesse replied.

The kids opened the door and inside was a latter. Jesse  grabbed a flashlight and they climbed down the latter and Mira closed before scurrying down after them. Once they finally reached the ground it was a big empty cellar.

“If he had enough money for an escape hatch he at least could of decorated down here!” Mira said.

“That Mira Was a pretty cheap escape hatch…….” Maggie said.

“OK my dad owns a BAKERY! He is not a millionaire!" Jesse said.

“Ok but at least………..” Mira started to say

“Not one more word about cheapness!" Jesse said

“Ok ok Sheesh” Mira said.
