Chapter One

An ocean mist covered my slightly tanned body as we sailed toward the island only an hour away from the shores of San Diego. I was sort of impressed by the relaxation I've never actually felt in my fifteen years of life, even though this summer camp thing hasn't even started. Just by feeling the cool spray of ocean water made me smile. You don't get this type of sensation in Much Wenlock, England.
"Rikki Wilson, where are you boy?" I heard my name being called from the front of the boat; right next to the driver, a woman stood holding a stack of papers.
"Umm, excuse me, I'm a girl." I corrected, lifting my hand and peeking from underneath my Dior sunglasses. For some reason nearly every kid--or should I say teen turned their heads to look at me. Maybe it was my accent. But, really, what was so great about it? It's just like in
England, where an American comes and so many are fascinated by their accent.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sweetheart." She came over and kneeled down right in front of me, taking off her own sunglasses--but they weren't Dior. "Anyway, I'm here to welcome you. I hear you came all the way from
England, and it's your first year at camp! Trust me, you're going to love it."
"Umm, thanks, I think." I accomplished a slight smile, but it wasn't very convincing.
"Well, have fun, darling." she left me and went back to sit with next to the driver. And when I thought I was going to finally relax some more, I was distracted by a girl with chin length red hair.
"Dior sunglasses and purse, Bebe bathing suit, and Juicy flipflops? Let me guess, fashionista?" she squeaked, a grin plastered over her cute face. She had her own sunglasses, different brand though, Forever 21?
"No, not really. My mum just likes to buy me expensive things. It's fine with me though." I actually managed a convincing smile. Maybe this camp wasn't all losers.
"Well, that's fine, I'm a fashionista! I'm JC Brighte, and you are?"

When we arrived to Catalina Island, I was crammed into a cabin with two other girls. I was glad that JC was one of them, but the other had a real attitude. One that wouldn't work with me. Her name? Madeline DeVour. French girl. She spoke French, but she's spent most of her life in Canada. Yeah, she came all the way down to Cali to go to a two and a half month summer camp. No worries though, when I don't like someone I just ignore.
"I want the single bed." Madeline announced, rudely interrupting into JC and my conversation. Madeline threw my luggage right off the single bed and put down her own.
"Yeah, sure." I murmured, getting up and retrieving my own. I didn't really mind where I had to sleep, so I took the top bunk. At least JC was sleeping under.
"I have a few rules, okay? One, lights out when I say lights out. No loud music that isn't mine, no posters or pics that aren't mine, and when I do call lights out, I don't want a peep out of you two. Got it?" there's that attitude I was talking about.
"Suuure," I murmured, surpressing a smile. If she only knew how stupid she sounded. She gave me a quick glare then set off to unpack.

Lots of hair product, I can tell you that.

"Let's go out to lunch, Rikki." JC grabbed my arm and dragged me to the outside cafetiria. Camp grounds were crawling with kids. From pretty girls to really hot guys. American guys. Not European. That's a new. I do awfully like new.
"I didn't know it was a girl and boy camp." I whispered over to JC.
"Oh, yeah. It is." she smiled and giggled just as a boy with short spiked hair passed by and gave her a gesture nod. "Look, let me point out the reallly cute guys and the really, really cute guys." She looked around and finally pointed to a guy near the salad bar talking to a guy that looked just like him. They both wore swim trunks, same design but different colors--blue and green, and a white tank top that was slightly wet. "Those are the Twins, identical, no duh, and really cute. Trey and Troy. Trey's in the blue, Troy's in the green. Oh, and over there," she pointed to a guy near the pool. Yeah, a pool. "That's Vince. This is his second year, he already has a rep for being a player, but he is so damn cute! Oh, and over there--"
I ended up interrupting her because I fell to the floor. I didn't do it on purpose, I was pushed down. And when I managed to open my eyes and rub away the sand, I noticed brown eyes staring directly into my hazel ones.
"Umm, you're squishing me." I accomplished to whisper, but my accent seemed to slur my words because he tilted his head. But I'm sure he got what I meant because of how choked my words came out.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I was pushed by Nick and I--look, I really didn't mean to." he helped me up, and when I said everything was okay, he said his name. Drew.
"I better be going." I said, ignoring him and his grinning friend. It was such a plan, nobody just falls perfectly on top of another.
"Wait! What's you're name?" he followed me.
"Rikk--"
"Throw it, man!" I was cut off by a shout of a boy not so far away. He ran on the shore, shirtless, black and white swim trunks and wet dirty blonde hair that was plastered to his forehead. He caught the football perfectly and ran off with it--for some reason, I felt strange. In a good way.
"You're Rick?" the boy that squished me said.
"No, I'm Rikki." I didn't even bother to look at him. I was to busy looking at whoever he was.
