in A State of Randomness, Craziness, and WEIRDNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The thump kept getting louder and louder until... It stopped. Just like that. All of a sudden for no apparent reason. Out of thin air.
As you can probably tell this is where the mystery begins. Just out of the blue taking us by surprise. Like most mysteries do. But I must warn you that from here on out it's slow going. Like I said we weren't excited for a mystery, and right then we didn't even know we had one.
"What was that all about?" Kate asked.
"What was what all about?" a voice came from behind.
I turned around in my chair and there was the teacher, Mrs.Prasel.
"Didn't you hear it?" asked Katie.
"Hear what?" Mrs.Prasel said.
"Nothing." I replied before anyone could get a word out, "It's nothing at all."
Mrs.Prasel eyed us for a moment and then went back to her desk.
"What was that all about?" Kate asked.
"Yeah, Olivia let us in on it." Katie chimed in.
"Look didn't you see that we were the only one's who actually heard that noise at all? I don't think they would believe that we heard something that sounded like a gunshot, when they didn't even hear anything at all."
Katie looked thoughtful for a moment. Kate's expression was blank as usual and showed nothing of what she was thinking. So I had no choice but to wait patiently for a response.
"You have a point." Katie pushed at the subject. "Don't you think other people would have covered their ears at that loud of a noise, or at the least commented on it. A fifth grader was not likely to let THAT by."
Kate nodded, "But we can't just not tell anybody. And well that was something even I don't think the guy who wrote Katie's stupid book could figure out."
"Who would we tell that would believe us?" Katie asked.
We all knew that answer even before Katie asked the question. Taryn.
The bell rang at that very moment and we rushed out the classroom door before anyone else.
"Taryn!" Kate called to her in the hall.
Taryn turned around in the middle of the hall and waited for us to catch up.
Taryn had short black hair and really pale skin, that was dotted with freckles. She had green eyes and was the earth-geek of our mash.
"Did you guys hear that?" she asked when we were cought up.
"So you did hear it?" I said, "I knew it. I knew it. I knew it."
"What do you think it was?" Taryn said.
"To be honest with you we don't really know." Katie answered.
To be hones with you (the one who's reading this). That was the first and last answer we would get for a while.
