Consequences - Chapter 5 (Yes!)

in my house, on here, writing. Like you!

The strong sunlight, made more glistening by the car window, woke me easily, although everyone in the back was still asleep and Justine went to find a bathroom, and I see her walking back to the car anyways. It's 6:57 am- I never wake up this early, even at the foster home. Probably because my blinds are always closed. I open the door for Justine. Her eyelids are red and heavy and I worry. I tap on a shoulder a bit. She twitches and looks at me.

"You okay there Justine?" I ask hesitantly as a somewhat eerie silence fills the car.

"Justine?"

"Don't know." she says, yawning and kicking her legs up on the dashboard, which she always does but I don't scold her this time.

"Look, we left Charter because we don't like it there. I thought you said your mother hated you, anyways. Who else is there to miss?"

"That's what I question. There's no reason I should be homesick for rat hole of a place but yet I do."

"I suppose it's natural. We have a long journey ahead of us, and problems are brewing up already- but what could I expect? I mean running away sounds like a stupid solution, but we're not like when prissy kids get annoyed with their parents and leave for the night at a friend's house then come back the next afternoon in tears. We're not running away- we're...we're.... finding new life. That's the word."

"I guess so." mumbles Justine, then going into a coughing fit that wake the rest up. I pat her back. I hope she wasn't catching something.

"Mikey..." I hear Gigi, pushing half asleep Mikey who had sprawled across the laps of Gigi and Jeremy during the night. "No offence but you reek like f-" comments Jeremy before Gigi gives him a Peace-Not-War-No-Swearing lecture, as usual. Such a sweet girl.

"We all reek." I announce to everyone, as I look at their states. Me, my pink-purple boy-cut up-to-my-ear hair is matted and tangled, but I don't care. My clothes- an electric yellow sweaty tank, copper-peace-sign-hanging-on-a-string-of-leather-round-my-neck, and a pair of stained jeans and scruffy sneakers needed to be changed. I put on my disguise- Make up, more arched eyebrows, and my aviator sunglasses, since I had baby like green eyes. Justine wasn't in need of disguise- Gigi was too short but slipped on her go-go boots, Mikey and Jeremy their fake facial hair. We couldn't really do anything about the smell- Jeremy liked the "manliness" of himself in for some odd reason anyways. I attempted cleaning up the interior of of the car before making sure everyone was strapped up, then squinting down to find my keys, discovering Jeremy's orange granny glasses too.

"Thanks bra." he muttered as I passed them to him, his eyes glazed over sleepily. I turned the keys in the ignition and drove out onto the highway, starting the third day away from Charter.
