Consequences - Chapter 8 (Still at the beach..)

After we finished the food, I swept up the crumbs and fed them to some seagulls. It was water time, everyone agreed, So I packed away everything in the car. After enduring lots and lots of begging, I said we could use the money to buy swimsuits, but since we're getting close to 280 bucks, I've really gotta start rationing. But I know that this won't last. We're going to have to settle down somewhere instead of jumping about everywhere. At first, I know that I didn't have a clue for where to drive to from Charter but I'm pretty sure San Francisco was a good alternative. I'm even considering playing music....but not on the streets, but I swear I'll put our talents to good use.  I hear everyone laughing and screaming and yelling, generally having a great time as I join them while we become part of the waves- splashing, riding, lying down and waiting to where they'd take us. Justine's been talking to some far-out surfboard dude, and he klnt us body boards to use. It was a piece of cake- lie your belly on it and the waves will take you high low, but not where you want to go (Justine stubbed her toe) Oh, I'm rhyming. Funny.

"So Charlie- Where we going next? Jeremy asks me as I lay down next to him in the sun, on the hot sand.  Mikey and Gigi are sitting in the water cross legged and laughing a lot. Perry is boarding. Justine is still talking to the surfboard person.

"San Fran." I say, yawning. Jeremy takes off his granny glasses and lay them on the sand as he ties his hair up in a dirty blonde ponytail.

"Nice. Are we staying there or what?"

"Maybe.."

"I hoped so, but Gigi would die for that."

"Yeah. Can't wait to tell her."

"Mhm. What'd you know about that Perry chick?"

"Oh...she said she was a hitcher. But she was in a bad state. She won't tell me where all her bruises came from."

"I think she may be trouble."

"She seems sweet."

"You never know." says Jeremy as he gets up and walks away back to the water. He's right...you never do know, do you?
