Curse of the blood diamond (chapter one)

There was once a treasure hunter who went around the world looking for rare treasures. His name was Tom. One day, he was in a tomb in Egypt. People said that there was a diamond here worth a million dollars. As he was walking along the dark room, Tom noticed a large chest with detailed pictures of skulls. He broke open the chest. There was a shrill shriek. Tom's eyes widened.
"W-who's there?" he stammered nervously. No answer. Tom shrugged and opened the heavy cover of the chest. He gasped. He was looking at a large diamond, at least 40 carats! It glittered in the light. It was pure red, like the color of blood. Tom smiled as he realized that he had found the diamond he was looking for. He scooped it up, wrapped it in paper, and stuffed it into his pack. He ran out of the tomb and climbed into his expensive helicopter. When he got back to his mansion, he stuffed the key into the lock on the front door and turned it. The door swung open. He walked inside and smiled. Suddenly, a vase on a shelf came crashing down on his head. He screamed as he fell to the floor. Blood oozed out from his head. His neighbors heard the scream and rushed in to see what had happened.
They gasped when they saw Tom and quickly dialed 911. An ambulance came rushing up the driveway. Tom was carried into the ambulance.
