Day Four!

Day Four!

by Word Bandit
in the City, riding a Paperwing dragon with Levi. Because he's my favorite person ever. EVER.

See, if you thought ideas somehow came EASILY to me, I hope you enjoy reading my sad confused jumble of a post.  This was by far more difficult than the other three prompts.

WB: Okay, so today, the prompt was to think of 12 ideas, and, whether they are New-York-Times-Bestseller-good or miserably bad, write them down.  Skye (Tuesday and a Half) is basically my inner disparaging voice.  I’ve invited her here today so that I can try to ignore her and think of ideas anyway.

Skye: HEY!

WB: Oh, you know it’s true.  On to the list!

1)   WB: Umm… Okay, so what if there was a small town for a cliché zombie story.

Skye: Sounds cliché.  Boo.

WB: I wasn’t finished yet!  Okay, so there are three  main characters.  A teenage boy, who likes getting into trouble, his girlfriend, and some other sort of quiet but really smart/resourceful girl.  The boy’s girlfriend gets turned into a zombie, but retains enough of her human self to not want to be one, and he falls in love with the quiet girl.  CONFLICT!

Skye: And would it be from all three points of view?

WB: Of course!  That way, it’s sorta different because you get to see what the zombies are thinking instead of just the survivors.

Skye: I actually sort of like that… :3

2)   WB: MERMAIDS!

Skye: NO!

3)    WB: I should have part three of Paper Shadows called “Skywriting.”

Skye: What does that have to do with anything?

WB: It’s an idea!  It totally counts!

Skye: Well, okaaaaay then…  Moving on to number four!

4)   WB: A girl… and… she…  uh… OOH!  Lives in medieval times and is a psychic!

Skye: As in reading minds or telekinetic?

WB: Perhaps both :)

5)   WB: The life of a platypus.

Skye: You’re very strange, you know.

WB: Sock.

6)    WB: So, everyone thinks an apocalypse is coming, almost everyone commits suicide or blockades themselves in a cellar for a few decades, and a bunch of high school kids are left…  WHO CAN SURVIVE?  AHHHHH!

Skye: Okay, isn’t that just the thing you discuss with your friends?  If there was a battle to the death, who in your school would win?

WB: Shut up!  But yes…

7)   WB:  So this person… no, this girl… NO, this PRINCESS, is cursed.  She has two fairy god mothers, one gave her beauty and wit and wisdom and the other gave her a temper and bad magic, like the ability to hex people and whatnot.

Skye: Can she use the magic for good?

WB: Nope!

Skye: Eh.  I sort of like it.  You could make it pretty interesting.  Or it could fail.

WB: You aren’t exactly my most encouraging friend.

Skye: Well, I’m not exactly real

8)  WB: Ugh, are we almost done yet?  I’m running low on ideas.  A tornado chasing story?

Skye: That would require research.  And you only suggested that because you want to get back to the Trail of the Twister Nancy Drew game you were playing.

WB: =]

9)   WB:   A realistic fiction story.  A girl goes to a fascinating summer camp.  She’s always felt out of place, but she loves this camp.  Evil counselor, but amazing friends.  Blah, blah, blah, she doesn’t want to go home!

Skye: Sure.  But remember, you fail at realistic fiction?

WB: LALALALALALALALALALA NO I DON’T!  I CAN’T HEAR YOU!!!!!!

Skye: O.o

10)   WB: A dystopian story.  With…  some… stuff…

Skye: Could you be a little more specific?

WB: Fine.  There are some phoenixes.

Skye: Like the bird, or is that, like a gang?

WB: Well, I originally meant the bird, but that makes no sense.  SO LET’S SAY IT’S A CULT!

11)    WB: In the home stretch…  Ahhhh, I have no ideas…

Skye: C’mon, you can do it!  Just look around the room you’re in and think, think, THINK!

WB: TOO MUCH PRESSURE!  AHH!  Okay, er... Glass makers.

Skye: What the heck are you talking about.

WB: I saw a glass picture frame.  Don’t argue, just go with it.  Okay, so there’s this girl, and her dad is an inventor, and he creates this glass world… or something…

Skye: And…?

WB: Stop rushing me!  ARGH, why did I invite you?  Alright, so the glass world expands, and there are glass people and glass animals in it, and she gets trapped in it, and falls in love with one of the boys there, and he’s made of glass…

Skye: That’s a little-

WB: Genius?

Skye: No, pathetic.

WB: Aww :(

12)   WB: YAY!  Last one!

Skye: Finally!

WB: Um… An abandoned house.  No, make that an abandoned manor house, with splendid gardens but a look of forlorn neglect.

Skye: Nice adjectives.

WB: Yes, yes, indeed.  So a family moves into this house- which is in New Hampshire circa 1960, by the way- and discovers that it is full of MYSTERY!  And possibly ghosts!  :D

Skye: Okay, you lost me there at the end.

WB: It doesn’t matter!  I’m DONE!
