Two more screams were heard before Hazel was knocked out.

The next thing she knew, she was lying on the softest surface in the world, but she had a searing headache and somehow she didn't remember anything 10 minutes before what had happened.

"Haze, you 'kay?" a soft voice was cooing to her, feeling her forehead.

Hazel opened her eyes, staring blankly ahead. "Who's Haze? That's such an odd name. And why are you feeling my forehead--who ARE you?"

Her mom sighed, and turned to a doctor in the corner. "Dr. Crosof, I thought you said she'd be fine," she said shrilly.

The doctor patted her back firmly. "I said she MIGHT be fine. Seems like she's suffering from memory loss..."

Hazel's mom freaked out. "WHAT? How long is it supposed to last?"

Dr. Crosof frowned. "Well, usually it ends around a week or so, but sometimes--"

Her mom had had enough. "Fine! I give up!"

Hazel sniffled. "Where am I? And I admit you are pretty nice for a stranger, but who ARE you?"

"I'm your mom. You're Hazel. Your best friend is Jake. You're at the hospital--you got memory loss from this mystery crash I know nothing about."
