Desperate for Love (Chapter 19)

She was beautiful. Something transformed in her. She was like Claire: entire body changed, but in a good way. She had this ice-blue long hair, so beautiful it stunned me for about an hour. She had turned those eyes another shade of blue: something like this ice mixed with lavender dye. She smiled. "I told you. And..." she pointed behind her back. There was a longbow, and a quiver. "I'll be exceptionally strong at archery." she whispered. Auburn looked at me, and I just stood there; I was brain dead. She smiled even more. "Come on. How am I supposed to beat my opponents when my own partner can't even keep his own head?" she said tauntingly. I embraced her in a hug, and she felt strange too. Sort of cold skinned, but warm all around me. She kissed me. I turned into this strange mixture of smoke.
Auburn said something that was probably the "not so good" part: now she couldn't change back anymore, unless she was able to find a white orb; a peculiar one, too. Then she needed another white orb to transform back. I advised her to cover her hair with a head scarf. In fact, her whole face had changed; she was beautiful, and she knew it herself, for she grinned at me. "I can read minds now, too." she said rather simply. I laughed. "Great. Now I can't think crazy." I said. She laughed along with me.
Afterwards, we left school, and we had to explain to the principal what the heck was wrong with Auburn. He nodded his head curtly. "Your identities explain everything that's happened here at school." he said. He beckoned us out. We left, and a lot more people than usual looked at Auburn. Her headscarf had not been bought yet; thus the fact that some looked crazy in love, and all the girls were either in awe or wanting to kill her because they had stolen the hearts of their lovers. Shyly, Auburn continued forward, head down, and I put my hand around her shoulder. She looked up, and smiled. Great. Now she was the new girl all over again.
We walked with each other after school, and talked about only one subject: Claire. "So what will we do with her?" she asked me. Hot girls carrying a backpack are not things you see every day; and yet here she was, smiling at me. "You think I'll have the same transformations? I hope I don't; becoming too beautiful will make me crazy...some people would think I'm trying to seduce them." I laughed.
"You don't need to; they do it by themselves." she smiled. "In fact," I added, "they should realize you only want to be part of my life." She laughed, and hugged me close.
"You know that won't change." she whispered.
"Unless I kill you." this was spoken by a different voice.
I turned.

Wow! Great chapter! Although the principal seems oddly unconcerned that he just learned magic exists...
