“Andrew,” she breathed. Bree’s Voice faltered and she lowered her head to hide a tear dripping slowly from her left eye. “I need you. I need you so badly.” She was grimacing at the extreme pain coming from her right side, where she had been whipped by the ancient Romans. She tenderly touched the wound with her finger, and immediately regretted it. It stung like nothing compared. Inside the dampened cavern, listening to the growling thunder and churning wind only made the situation worse. She had gotten lost being chased by a group of Briar’s spies, and come across the cave as her only choice in the mountainous terrain. The horrible thief, Briar Longhart, was after her and her friends for the sake of five missing treasures--all whom which were puzzle pieces to Bree’s magic pendant, in which she wore around her neck.

Suddenly, a terrible thought crossed her mind as she envisioned Andrew, her beloved, caring Andrew McCarter, being transported to another time period, only to be whipped himself. She shuddered, only causing her to cry harder. She loved Andrew as a treasure, and now she was alone, cold, and lost, with a large, red gash in her side. She looked down, and then remembered the pendant. With the power of time travel, she was able to search for her missing friends, and especially Andrew, herself. But with not a clue where in the world—or time—they were, she was hopeless. Only then did she see the small scrap of worn paper on the floor of the cave in front of her, and a spark of determination ignited within her. Was this a clue? Or was it just some old material?
