When Jesse awoke, he noticed the dark sky outside. He mustn't have slept for too long. He went back to bed, and slumbered for a few more hours. This time, he was awoken by the dong of the belltower. He looked out the window. The sky still remained a dark, deep black. Then, Jesse remembered: The belltower only sounded at noon. He was hit with a feeling of shock. The sun had not yet risen, and yet it was still noon! He peered out the window once more. A group of people had gathered in the town plaza, standing in confusion, discussing the peculiar matter. "The belltower always sounds at noon, I'm positive." "Maybe an error, I suppose." "Must be a solar eclipse. What else could it possible be?" The mayor stepped out of Town Hall and began reassuring the residents of Arkham. "Citizens of Arkham! I am called upon to assure you: It is merely an error in the clock." Jesse felt sudden feelings of anger for Mayor Quincy. That's a lie! Stop saying things that aren't true! We're in absolute danger, and you know it! , Jesse thought bitterly. Arkham was bound to fall apart at some point in time. Why lie? Why not just tell them? Jesse headed outside to see what was going on. As he went out, he noticed people whispering things such as, "Liar! He's just trying to make us feel better!", and Jesse felt sudden relief that he shared his negative feelings with the mayor. The mayor was bombarded with unmetionable insults, and he yelled,"I hope you all starve!", and left, sequestering himself in that office of his once more. Jesse knew that eventually Mayor Quincy would be taken from office, due to his sheer carelessness. Someone, most likely a rabble-rouser of some sort, screamed, "We all hate you, too, Mayor Quincy!", although he obviously couldn't hear the man, he was already back in his office. This caused a sudden uproar. A few yelled something like, "This is what you get when you combine a terrible mayor and a group of already frustrated people!" Jesse felt like joining the riot, but decided against, although the idea was quite tempting. He went back inside his grimy apartment and thought about the event. How long would this last? When will light come? These were questions...that needed answers.

Thanks for the advice! I normally forget to space out the paragraphs...
