Chapter 7 Repeat That Again, Please!
I flattened myself against the wall and peered around the corner. Sure enough, Freddie and Shianne stood talking.
“Freddie, what do you mean?!†Shianne asked again. Her eyes were
worried but in them I could see the same mean glare they always held.
“Listen, we can’t be together.â€
“What?! Why Freddie?!†Shianne asked.
“Because, I like someone else.†he sighed.
“He does?†I said aloud. Freddie and Shianne turned in my direction, good thing I dodged to the side.
“Who Freddie, I MUST know!†Shianne said, almost pleading.
Freddie looked around then bent down alittle and whispered something
in Shianne’s ear.
“Her?! Freddie, how, how could you like HER! She’s ugly, and weird,
and she’s not as smart as me.â€
“Shianne, she’s in my GATE class, you are not, she is.†Freddie
explained. “Besides, I like different girls, you’re just too... normal, and I don’t really give a care what she looks like.â€
‘Who could it be? Maybe Kelly, or, or, Kristy, or... huh!, MOLLY! Everyone likes Molly, I bet you he likes her!’ I had slid all the way down to the floor, my knees were tucked to my chest and I was
staring up at the ceiling. ‘Who is it? There are 9 girls in our GATE
class, 5 10th graders and 4 9th graders. Who is it?!’ I thought I had solved all my boy problems so far, Freddie, Jeff, but now I had another problem! Who does Freddie like?
“Shianne, I have to go. My parents will be wondering where I am.
See yeah.†I heard footsteps walking down the hall. Then, footsteps,
coming in my direction. I leaped up and ran into the nearest classroom. Good thing the door was unlocked.
I leaned against the door and slid down. I heard Shianne’s feet walk
quickly down the hall. “Feewww,†I sighed, whipping my forehead.
“June?†I looked up and there, on his computer, was Mr. Carlson. I had ended up in GATE class.
“OH! Mr. Carlson! I, uhhhh, what are you doing here?†I asked,
confused.
“This is my classroom.â€
“OH! I mean, I know, but, aren’t you supposed to be at home?†I
asked.
“Were you too out of breath to realize that my door was open which
meant I was in?†He asked, his eye-brows raised.
“I, uhhhh, suppose I was. I over heard something that I, don’t
think I should’ve and someone was coming my way.†I explained.
“And though it is none of my business, what was this, over heard
conversation?â€
“Let’s just say a certain guy was telling a certain girl that he liked someone in GATE class. It really is a long story, Mr. Carlson, I better not waist your time-“
â€June, I have read many romance books, mostly Jane Austen, and I
know you have read some of her books also, I should always like to
here a teen love story from a someone in High-school. Especially when she is in my class and when I know she can explain herself very well.†Mr. Carlson interrupted.
“I... alright...†So, I told him the whole story, from the day of
the band concert up to when I ran into his classroom for hiding. He
actually was really quite easy to talk to.
“It seems you really have a heart ach for this CERTAIN BOY. Maybe you should try a little harder in your planning to get him, or, what I always did, was wait, for HIM to find YOU.†Mr. Carlson told me.
“Thanks, Mr. Carlson, I’ll take your thoughts into consideration.†I told him. Then, I got up from the desk and walked out of the classroom.
