First Kiss
We sit together on the soft, sandy, beach, our fingers intertwined tightly. The water washes our bare beet and I can feel mud wriggling between my toes. I gaze out at the setting sun. A soft breeze blows through my wavy, dark brown hair, tossing it over half my face. I turn and look at Rick. He chuckles and brushes my hair behind my ear. Our lips are only inches away. I can feel his breath on my face. Slowly, he brushes his lips against mine. We mash them together. Our tongues wrap playfully around each other. I pull away, blushing. It's over all to soon.
That's how a first kiss is supposed to be, right? Well not mine. See, here's reality:
I gaze at Rick. We are sitting at the bottom of a traffic-light. I can hear cars rushing past us on the crowded street. My little sister, Christy, and her friends, Nicki, Tina and Brooke, are playing with a pink bouncy-ball in the parking-lot behind us. I can hear their laughter. The smell of fresh pizza wafts into my nostrils from the pizza shop behind us. The sun beats down on my bare back and beads of sweat roll down my forehead. I sigh. Rick turns and looks at me, rolling his skateboard back and forth with his left foot. Suddenly, he leans up to me. His lips push themselves against mine and our teeth scrape each other's. Our tongues do nothing but sit there. I taste the nasty remains of Cheetos travel into my mouth. I pull away, disgusted. A trail of spit has formed from my lips to his. I want to gag.
Tonight was supposed to be the most special night of my life! It turned out to be the worst. I'm never going to kiss again.
