Keys of Erin
~Prologue~
It was a normal day in the Philips household. Twin sister Beth Philips was in her room, painting on her easel, twin brother Cole Philips was playing Super Mario Brawl, Beth’s kitten Will, was busy lapping up a bowl of cream, Mrs. Philips was busy cooking grilled cheese, and Mr. Philips was at work at the office. Beth was adding the final touches to her painting of Will. She had applied just the right shade of grey to his fluffy coat when she heard a strange buzzing noise. She knew it wasn’t the grill.
Cole heard it too. He paid no attention to it, though he felt uneasy when he heard it. Soon, it started to get annoying, and he couldn’t focus.
“Mom? Could you turn off that buzzing noise?” He called.
“What buzzing noise?” Mrs. Philips asked.
“Can’t you hear it?”
“No.”
Cole sighed and turned off the Wii player. Suddenly, the room started to shake.
“Earthquake!” Cole panicked, and right then and there, threw up on the floor. His biggest fear was getting killed by an earthquake, but it wasn’t an earthquake.
~Chapter one~
The ground shook and the room started to spin. Cole dived under the couch, but it was too late. Everything went black. Beth was experiencing the same thing. She screamed as her framed painting of a nice summer day fell off the wall. She staggered backwards and fell, hitting her head on the pole of her canopy bed.
Twenty seconds later, Cole woke up in a different world. He was laying on his back, staring up at a blue, blue sky. He stretched and stood up. He looked over and saw Beth lying on the ground a few yards away.
“Beth, wake up!” Cole shouted. He ran over to Beth and shook her. She groaned and rubbed her head.
“Ow…Cole?” She mumbled, sitting up. “Cole, where are we?”
“I could ask you the same thing.” Cole replied, shrugging.
“Is anyone here?” Beth asked, standing up and brushing herself off.
“Not that I know of,” Cole answered. The twins began walking around.
They came to a gigantic tree. The leaves were a fiery orange, and the tree gave off a brilliant light.
“Whoa…” Cole breathed. “So cool!”
“This tree…it’s in a clearing, not in the grove.” Beth remarked. “That’s unusual. What’s it doing there?”
“Your guess is better than mine,” Cole shrugged. Suddenly something rustled in the tall grass. Cole and Beth immediately went back-to-back, circling around.
“Who’s there?” Cole squeaked.
A small, furry mere cat popped out of the bushes.
“It’s just me!” It giggled.
