Chapter 1
Is it possible to be stuck in your head, without any contact from the outside world?
Any of the normal pleasures? The pain, the suffering, the joy?
It is a incomprehensive thought, but try to think about it.
I have fully come to the conclusion that nobody has any idea what I'm talking about. I feel that I'm different from everything in the known world.
My mind isn't like most, it’s more complex. I have more thought than anyone could guess - but silence is normal behavior for someone lacking a parents, friends of any kind...
I thought about this predicament as I was in my Aunt Aubbie’s car, driving far away from our comfortable little town of Dalensville, to the little town of Quiere, in Arizona.
Despite my Aunt’s obsession over the solar system, and my mother and father’s love of the mythical, I’m pretty normal.
My name is Venus Gracen, but more commonly called Vi. My mother also shared Aubbie’s love of space. Hence the odd name.
I yawned, and Aubbie glanced back, realizing I had woken.
“You excited for the eclipse?” She asked trying to spark conversation.
“Sure.” I replied with a sigh.
She had dragged me all the way out to Arizona for a stupid Eclipse that took place on an island that was on a lake located in Quiere.
It wouldn’t be my first eclipse, my father had taken me to a few before he died in a car crash with my mother. Where? Arizona. How about that?
Aubbie paused for a minute before saying, “Vi, I know you hate Arizona for all its worth, and I certainly don’t blame you, but please, please, act happy - just for the eclipse Friday!” she pleaded.
“Fine.” I said with my arms crossed, looking out the window.
The rest of the ride was complete silence - except for an occasional “ooohhhh” or an “ahhhh” from Aubbie.
I had almost fell asleep when we pulled into our little neighborhood that lined Lake Mystery, the eclipse island’s lake.
“Oh! Our little cottage is right on the lake! Everything is moved in too, Vi! A few friends helped me over the past weekends!” Aubbie squealed childishly.
I smiled sweetly, and she gave me a look of satisfaction.
“Here we are.” My aunt said, pulling our Honda into the driveway of a small yellow cottage with pale pink shutters.
“Isn’t pretty!” She continued, opening my car door for me.
“Gorgeous.” I answered sarcastically, walking towards the front door.
She followed me and unlocked the door.
I ran straight up to the attic, which served as my room.
It was painted a midnight blue, and my new bed comforter was the same color as the walls, but it was sprinkled with glitter.
The floor was of stained hard-wood, a black couch with white pillows sat in the nook nears the banister of the stairs. Aubbie had also added my bookshelves and filled them with my books on one side.
I decided not give her a hard time.
As I plopped on my bed I noticed something under one of the black decorative pillows.
It was a note with yellowed edges.
It was addressed:
Venus Gracen
I’d know that handwriting anywhere. It was my mothers.
My mother is dead.
Curiosity was overpowering me, I carefully opened the fragile letter...

Oh my gosh, this is fantastic! I feel like I really am in Venus's mind, like she's my best friend who I know really, really well. I like her bedroom. It sounds cool but I'm blown away by the characters! I will definately follow this. The only problem I can see: it reminds me a bit of Vaaren Salvation, as far as going to see the eclipse goes. But what do I know? i doubt the whole story is about the eclipse! Anyway, EXCELLENT job!
*{I keep trying to kidnap Jasper, but every time, Alice is at the window with a baseball bat, waiting for me. How does she kn--ohh, right.}*
I agree, but otherwise it sounds amazing and wonderful! Keep writing!
