Chapter 7
"That."
Gweniever's eyes fluttered open, and she sat bolt upright, hearing a scream. She quickly looked around, tilting her head as her eyes glazed upon the burnt out fire, watching as only whisps of smoke emerged into the open air. Everything was the same as it had been that night, except for there was no Seth.
Somehow managing to stand in her dirty dress she looked to the woods around her, then back at the fire. She quickly walked over to Seth's pack and found several drips of blood on the pillow. Her eyes bulged, as she looked around again.
"Seth!" Gweniever yelled. She looked to the woods as she heard a stick crack and she shuddered. As she turned to look at the woods around her once more, Gwen felt a hand cuff her mouth. Trying to scream, she tried to kick the figure that was behind her to no avail. Gweniever made her feet drag as the figure pulled her into the woods. Making one last attempt for freedom she let her teeth clamp down on the man's hand. He screeched, letting go of her. Gwen rushed to exit the woods when the figure jumped on her as the edge of the treeline.
Gwen grunted as she turned around to face the figure. It was Seth. Seth, who was no completly on top of her grimaced. He held up his hand showing her bite marks, glaring into her eyes.
"Seriously?!" He harshly whispered. Still laying there, hopeless and confused, Gwen snorted.
"What did you expect me to do?" She shrugged. She put her hands against his shoulders to push him up when her left hand encountered something wet, and sticky. Blood. She pulled her hand away, looking at it and Seth climbed up quickly.
"Your bleeding!" Gwen exclaimed, standing and holding out his shoulder. Seth rolled his eyes.
"Its nothing."
"Its something." Gweniever pulled him over to a tree, leaning him back. Seth groaned, annoyed by Gwen's mothering and sighed, relaxing.
Gwen mumbled something under her breath, pulling away for a minute.
"Take off your shirt." He watched her for a moment before obeying. She waited patiently as the shirt lifted from his stomach and slipped over his shoulders and head. He let out a yell of anguish as he moved his arm and Gwen looked to his six inch gash that flew from his neck to his armpit. She took a deep breath, finally looking up to search Seth's face. Gweniever became stunned for the moment as she caught him looking at her... the fact that he was looking at her wasnt a problem, it was the way he was looking at her that was the problem. His eyes seached her face with passion, almost love... But it only lasted a second as his face once more hardened. She quickly looked away. "Hold on."
Gwen stood, anxiously heading out of the woods, ignoring Seth's protest. After a few more steps she emerged from the woods, and hurried over to their campsite. She let her eyes search around till she spotted a sack of water. Sighing a relief, she quickly stood to take it to Seth. Seth watched her come back to him and kneel by his side. Gwen ignored this stare, too worried about the gushing of blood that now plumeted down his chest. Pulling at her dress, she cringed hearing a ripping sound. Gweniever looked at the long peice of cloth she had taken from her dress. Seth grimaced as she poured all of her water onto the cloth and began dabbing his wound. He cringed as the freezing water touched his wound and she looked away.
Gweniever was never fond of seeing somebody in pain. It almost brought herself pain if she watched. She looked back at him after a minute, but only because he had taken her hand and was once more dabbing his wound. Gwen forced a smile after a few moments and let her hand retreat as the bleeding stopped some. She pulled on her dress again, this time taking about a foot off of the bottom. Making sure that it had no dirt on it, she tied it around Seth's neck and arm, watching as it stuck to the wetness of the water that was still on his skin. She did this several times till her dress was only up to her knees and sighed. Gwen stood, holding out her hand. He took it, looking into her eyes again when she wasnt looking. As her eyes caught his, he looked away and pushed past her.
"Wait!" Gwen yelled. Seth stopped, turning to her. "How did you get that wound...?" Seth didnt know how he had planned to avoid this question.
"It's an old wound." He lied, turning.
"Don't lie, I heard a scream and I saw blood on your sleepware." Seth paused from his walking once more. Gwen trotted up to him, taking his un-wounded arm.
"Seth." Gweniever stated, her voice strong and frustraited. "What are you keeping from me.
Just as she asked this two arrows flew by Gwens head. Seth turned on his heels.
"That." He told her simply as he took her wrist, quickly leading her out of the woods.
