My New Country

I was starved. I had not eaten for a long time and I can't really call cheese and ham dinner! You see, the Virginia Company had finally allowed woman and thier children to sail to the New World. Father was exstatic when he heard the news. So, right now, he is wating for was to join him. It has been three mounths now and still no land. Mother looks really disappointed right now. "Mother ... umm... is everything alright? You don't look to swell." I stutter. "Samantha, I know better than to put my grief on you...you are eleven so okay, I'll spill the beans! So..." she didn't continue, for, she was interrupted by the sound of chanting. Squinting, I saw LAND! We made it to the shore in about 2hours. I sniff in tons of air from my new home. It calms me down until... wait something's missing! "Mother, where is father?" I ask as we venture through James town. She doesn't answer me right away which scares me. A gigantic lump in my throat starts to form. I could feel tears form in my eyes. My heart felt hard and heavy like two pounds of gold without value. Mother's face seems lost with no expression. So far, both of us felt great grief because of the promise that father made and the terribly long journey we had taken in hope to find him. Both off us where the only ones on the ship who knew our purpose here. Everyone else was a woman with or without kids who needed a husband. Father had broken his promise and he could be anywhere! I must of been day dreaming because I bumped into a little rich girl. "Hey! Watch where you're going! I have 3,000,000 for suing!" Tell you the truth, I didn't know why some one with all that money would waste it on suing! "The names Martha,so why don't you speak when I talk to you?" Martha said and her attitude was totally evil and I started to wonder if all rich folk was like Marta. Soon, I felt a mean little kick bruise my bottom. OUCH! "I hope that will teach you to answer me when I speak or trust me, I'll be your worst nightmare." Martha pointed her nose in the air. her blue leather dress blew in the air. Her mother seemed young and I bet she was as spoiled as her daughter. I bet (and hope) that she will find a husband that her mother doesn't approve of and lose all of her wealth. Mother put a warm hand over my shoulder. I looked up at her but she didn't look down at me. She stood nice and straight. Up ahead I saw a sign that said WELCOME WOMAN!!! TO JAMES TOWN! and up ahead I saw Father with two pairs of freshly picked roses. So he didn't break his promise! "Father! Oh,have I missed you so!" I hugged him tightly. I could not wait to find out what would happen IN MY NEW COUNTRY !
