Prelude

Death was such a horrible thing. Of course, Stephie knew that better than anyone. The night before the fire, she lay on her deathbed, plagued by the influenza. It was horrible. She hacked blood onto the white hospital bed sheets and feeling herself get sicker and more tired by the second.
The fire came the next day. An idiot cook had left a burner on before a run to the bathroom and his assistant had been busy combing her hair in the bathroom down the hall. The fire was uncontrollable and it burned Stephie's skin more than the burn in her throw from barfing and coughing up blood.
But reliving that was even worse. Haunting the grounds of the hospital and then reliving the thing all over again on the same day was even worse. Amongst the ash and dark shadows, she felt alone even with more than a hundred other ghosts trapped behind the boarded up doors of the Hill Manor Hospital.
