A/N: Pleeasseee comment (: Enjoy! Ohh, and sorry it's sooo shortt S:
The blaring light finally diminished into a sutble glow around the boy's pale skin, only to reaveal his remarkable features. His hair was a dark brown, nearly a jet black, covered most of his forehead, his lips were a dark pink, on the verge of transforming into a purple, and all over his visible skin were numerous scratches, like me, but on his left shoulder, where his white shirt should still be white was an increasingly red stain that didn't have any intentions of stopping its savage spreading.
"C.N.O." Mason whispered, amazed. A smile spread across his face. "Nylie, he's an alien! He's an alien!"
Or a stranded astronaut. I thought, yet still feeling depression for his injuries.
"We've got to help him!" Mason dashed toward the crater, but before he could jump in, I gripped his wrist recieving an annoyed glare with his now hazel eyes.
"Nylie! He's going to bleed to death!"
"If he were an alien, that wouldn't matter!" I hissed back, pulling him away, but realized that his puberty stage was kicking in. He pulled me back.
"Alien or not, we can't let him die. If we do, then we'll have to live with guilt pressing down on us for the rest of our lives." he paused and stared into my eyes. "Can we at least get him out of there?"
I hesistated, but then finally freed his hand and lowered myself into the crater. When I noticed that Mason was coming to, I told him to stay up there.
"I need you to pull him up."
He nodded in understandmeant. Turning toward the unconcious boy--well, I can't really say boy, he appeared to be a year or so older than me--I tried to pick him up, but as slim as he looked, he was heavy and at the touch of his skin, he was freezing--that explains the purple lips. Trying a different tactic, I got on my knees and tried to locate my hands under him so I could pick him up, but as I struggled to get them under him, my gaze shifted to his face. He was clearly different. He had no unnecessary tatoos like the Moneyed, nor a chaotic beard or mustache like most of the teens his age in the Slums. Overall, he was...handsome. But ignoring my odd thoughts, I resumed with the lifting, yet still failed. I sighed in defeat and hunched over his bleeding body, letting my hair curtain my face.
"You are supposed to lift with your knees." a demanding voice called from above, sending a trembling chill down my spine. Falling over the boy's body, I managed to glance up, only to find Mason being held tightly against a girl's body, and pressing lightly against his neck was a sharp blade with strange markings.
"Mason!" I screamed, quickly realizing that unconcious boy was what she wanted. "Let him go!" I didn't move, because of I did, I knew it would mean a consiquence for Mason.
"Give me, C.N.O." her voice was chilling, with a squeaky ring to it.
"Give me my brother." I managed to top her rimy tone of voice. Although I was expecting some other sassy comeback, all I recieved was an irritable cackle.
"Stupid humans. You do not know who you are dealing with, do you?" she pressed the blade harder onto his neck. A reckless rampage of emotions boiled through my blood, creating a plan from every fragment of stupidity I had in me. I reached into my pocket, pulled out the small pocket-knife I always kept with me and inserted only a centimeter into his freezing wound. "What is this going to do? Hurt him?" she giggled.
"Let's find out." I gave the blade a bump, sinking it deeper into his flesh. He winced but didn't wake up. "Shall I go further?"
She hesistated but still answered.
"Let us trade, human. I will give you this boy if you give me that boy."
I nodded in agreement. She extracted the dagger from Mason's neck while I cautiously pulled out mine, after we locked our gazes, she pushed Mason into the crater, knocking me from my knees onto my back and onto the freezing body of the other boy. As soons as I regained my sitting position, I cupped Mason's shockinly frightened face. I didn't even need to say a word, my worried eyes said it all.
"I'm okay, Ny." he managed, peeling my cold hands from his face. His gaze shifted from me to the body next to me, and to my sruprise, the unexpected guest was already next to him, examining his worsened cut. As I backed away with Mason, she tried to lift him.
"You're supposed to lift with you're knees." I barked, climbing out of the crater. She threw me a dirty look but her face quickly went blank.
"Do not go." I have to admit, I was surprised by those three words. "I need your help."
I ignored her and started heading home, as if this whole little mishap had never happened.
"With what?" One thing I didn't notice was Mason still standing at the edge of the crater.
I heard her inhale and exhale.
"There are...people not so far away from here. They are looking for me, another one of us, and him. These people are bad, little boy. These people have no mercy. These people have no soul. These people will kill you and me."
