The Runaways-Chapter 2

Chapter 2:

Another attempt at an escape.

With Rim dead I wasn't sure on my next move. I knew we must escape but how.

"Moona, come here I need to speak to you," I said. Moona broke from the crowd surrounding Rim's grave.

"Yes?" Moona replied coming to stand next to me.

"I have another idea at escape," I said pulling out a map of the region."Look there is another port here with a boat to France, in 2 hours. It will take awhile to get there but we must escape tonight. If we dont the will be on our trail."

"Yes, but we need to go to America-isn't the land free?" Moona questioned.

"I have no clue but France is our closest option," I replied.

"Okay Iris, are you sure about this?"

"I think."

"Tria, Aulin, Kur, Gale, Pete, Rick, Em, Ari, Trya, and Joshua come please. Bring your stuff, please." I yelled.

"But-the bags they are in the water," Aulin said. I was leader behind this operation-we could not  survive without the bags and other necessities.

"Here hold this," I said shoving the map of the region into Moona's hands. I ran to the edge of the bank and jumped into the freezing cold water once again. I dove deep and found 2 bags, I grabbed them. I floated to the surface and swam to the shore. I scampered onto the shore and threw the bags on the sand. I grabbed one and dumped the contents on the ground. There was a loaf of bread,  some cheese, a bottle of water, some ragged clothes-this bag was mine. I stuffed everything back in the bag and grabbed the second bag. I  took out the contents and set them on the ground.   There was some ripped clothes, a bottle of water, a small knife with the letters Rim in gold-Rim's bag.

"This is all we have of Rim-her knife." I said holding the knife up in the air. I stuffed it in my bag along with her clothes and water bottle.

"Moona look for more bags in the water-Aulin go with her." I ordered

"Yes," Moona and Aulin said. I took Rim's empty bag and stood up. I walked over to her grave and set the bag down.

"Gale please retrieve me a stick," I said softly. Gale leaned down and picked up a stick. He waved it in front of my face. 

"Thank you," I said irritatedily. I wrote in the sand For Rim...

"Here you go," Moona said dumping 3 bags infront of me.

"Thanks-claim your bags. Can you go back in?"

"Yes," Moona said.

"Search for 8 more," I told her.

"Aulin's says she got 3." Moona replied.

"She is still in the water? Oh no-not again!"
