Chapter Twenty-Nine

There I was at my locker getting my books out for English, when Peyton appeared next to me. She didn’t say anything; she just slipped a note in my back pocket and ran off. I took the note out of my pocket and read;

Meet me on the rooftop before class starts

   ____Love, Marcus!

I quickly stuffed my books into my locker and ran up the stairs leading to the rooftop. I admit I was sneaky while doing this, the principal was coming down the hall when I was running to the door leading up to the rooftop. I hid behind a wall and he walked right past me without seeing me at all. I ran up the stairs and opened the door. It was a cloudy day, not too hot. I ran over to where Marcus was sitting and plopped down next to him.

“Hey baby!” Marcus said kissing me.

“Hey handsome,” I said, “What do you want…?”

“Listen my uncle is coming to town with his boat this weekend and I was wondering if you would like to come with us, he has a knee board and skis.”

“That’s sounds so cool!” I said.

“So you want to come…?”

“Well, I have to ask my parent’s but I’m pretty sure they will let me.”

“Yeah,” He said, “It’s going to be really hot this weekend so I thought we should do it while we can!”

“You’re absolutely right!” I said. He leaned forward to kiss me but I jumped to my feet.

“I have to get to class, if I’m one second late…”

“He’ll give you detention…I know!” Marcus said, “Not only will he give you detention but he’ll give it to me too!”

He also jumped to his feet, grabbed my hand and ran down the stairs so we wouldn’t be late for class. We ran down the hall and I had to run back to my locker to get my books Marcus said he’ll meet me in class.

“Well…that stinks!” Mr. Stevens said as I walked into class.

“What stinks…?” I asked.

“You arrived just on time,” He said messing with his pocket watch, “I wanted you to be late again so I could see that look on your face, priceless!”

He burst out laughing; I sighed and walked to my desk.

“Okay, the principal want’s me to tell you about this writing website,” Mr. Steven’s said, “Sadly it could improve your writing.”

He went down every isle and handed out a flyer.

“Kidpub…?” Ezra said, “I’m not a kid!”

“You sure act like it!” Jacob said under his breath. He’s so lucky Ezra didn’t beat him to a pulp right then and there.

“Enough!” Mr. Stevens said, “I won’t allow this!”

“Allow what…?”Jacob asked.

“Allow students like you to be in my classroom!”

At first I thought he was talking about Ezra, but then I realized he was talking to Jacob.

“Deal with it!” Jacob said.

“That’s it!” Mr. Stevens said, “Out!”

Mr. Stevens walked over to Jacob and practically dragged him out of the classroom.

“There always has to be drama in this classroom, eh?” Peyton whispered to me. I smiled and nodded. The rest of the class was…weird without Jacob being there. Apparently, he was sent home by the principal. Didn’t expect that, right? By the way, that was a sarcastic comment. This website actually sounded really fun…I would have to look into it. The bell rang and I gathered my books and left as soon as I could to get books for history.

“So are you going to join Kidpub…?” Peyton asked.

“Its sounds cool,” I said, “It depends on what my Mom and Dad say though.”

She nodded.

“Is your Dad always that…” I started.

“Rude,” Peyton finished, “Yes always!”

“That sucks!” I said.

“Tell me about it!”

“Does your Mom do anything about it…?” I asked.

“She’s too afraid, he’ll beat her just like Ezra is doing to Jacob right this second!”

My eyes widened and I turned to where Peyton was pointing at there was Jacob on the floor getting badly beaten by Ezra. Even though he was the kind of kid who would win a prize for BEST JERK OF ALL TIME I had to help him, he was after all my friend, well ex-friend. Before I could reach them, the principal pushed her way past the crowd.

“I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS BULLYING ANY LONGER!” Principal Mari shouted, “Ezra, you are expelled!”

The crowd started clapping, except his evil minions. He pushed his way past the principal and bolted out the front doors of the school. That’s when I knew; the bullying days at Meredith Middle School had finally ended…
