Stone chapter 1 part 1

The black water's ripples gingerly rocked the small motor boat back and forth, the same as it did hours earlier.  The three teenagers inside lay on their backs staring at the stars above.

"I'm sorry, but I can't do this for much longer, I am - we are - going to die if we just lay on our backs doing nothing!"  The 15 year girl, Opal, cried out. 

"Calm down!  I just need peace and quiet for one hour, one hour!  Do you even know what time it is?"  Kyle, also 15, shouted to Opal.  "All you've been doing for the past five hours was cry!  Scream, complain, and cry!  Do you have any idea how annoying that is.  Just relax!"

"Relax!"  Opal argued.  "How do you expect me to relax when we are stranded here out in the middle of the ocean!  Our motor died, Kyle.  Died!  We are stuck, without food, without any idea of where shore is, nothing!  We've drifted so far out, and now it's dark.  How do you ever expect me to relax when this is happening.  We will die if we stay like this.  And sharks.  I am terrified of sharks-"

"-We know!"  Kyle chimed in.

"How do you expect us to do anything?"  Opal broke down into a cry on her sister, Topaz's, lap.  "Topaz, you won't let me die will you?"  The little sister started to quiet down.

"Opal, we'll get out of this, I know we will."  Topaz gently stroked her little sister's back.  "I have my cell phone, we just need to paddle somewhere, anywhere, until we get reception.  Then, I can call Mom, Dad, 911, everyone, or anyone who can help us.  But we can't do anything in the dark, so sleep for a few hours.  When day comes, we'll think of something.  Sleep, Opal."  Opal gently rested her head on her sister's legs. 

"We'd better get to sleep, Kyle."  There was no response.  "Kyle?"  Topaz looked over to see a young boy hung over ontop of the side of the boat.  "Boys,"  Topaz mumbled as she dozed off.
