Tallulah-Jane's Extreme Makover Chapter 1-Let Me Introduce Myself

Hi. Let me introduce myself. I’m Tallulah-Jane von Vyland. My parents are from Germany but they moved to Los Angeles, so now, we live there. I go to Westside Academy and I’m in Year 8. But enough about that. I have a very ugly appearance. I have frizzy, brown hair that never lies flat, very white skin, very poor eye-sight and huuuuuuge glasses. I look nothing like my parents and even my Nan and Grandpa think I’m adopted. I watch EXM (Extreme Makeover) every week and I absolutely admire the specialists. One day, I hope to walk into the Extreme Makeover mansion and fix up my appearance, but of course, my parents will never let me have plastic surgery. Even though Dad had plastic surgery on his eyes and nose when I was 2 because he said they were too close together. All parents are like that and if your’s aren’t you’re very lucky. My nickname at school is Spectacles or Nazi because of my glasses and my German background. I just wish I had the courage or confidence to say that my parents were Jewish even though they were German. Well, actually, I did, in my end-of-year speech, but nobody was listening. My parents ancestors were some of the Jews that got killed in the Holocaust and were murdered with less mercy than the Russian, English or any of the other Jews because they ‘betrayed’ the German race. Nobody at school likes me except Tilly, my best friend. She’s also in Year 8 even though she’s a year younger than me. I’m 13 and Tilly’s 12, but she skipped a grade. Tilly gets teased a lot because she hangs around me. People call her Follower and Nazi’s Best Friend. I always feel like swearing at them, but Tilly always says ‘Ignore them. They’re just a cube of sugar on a chocolate bar.’ Tilly has weird expressions. I have a crush on this boy called Cameron. Tilly thinks he’s cute as well, although, I think she likes Rodney. Cameron’s tall, with grey eyes and he’s the captain of the jocks. Just yesterday, the cheerleaders and the jocks were calling me and Tilly names but he told them to stop and smiled at us. I don’t know who, but I think it was me. I shouldn’t keep my hopes up though-my appearance compared to Tilly’s is ogre-like. Tilly’s eyes are emerald-green and she has wavy, orange hair. Her mum is Japanese, so she probably gets her smooth, tan skin from her. Mr Richman, though, is English-Australian, so Tilly definitely gets her hair and eyes from him. Anyway, as I told you, I get bullied and teased a lot at school. Not by everyone though. Mostly, Mariah and her gang of cheerleaders do all the dirty work. They’re so intimidating, that everyone follows their lead. They steal my schoolbag and kick it around the hall, they throw paper at me, they put insects in my hair and clothes and one day, Mariah saw me looking at Cameron, so she grabbed him and started kissing him. I know what you’re thinking. What a horrible girl. She deserves a good beating up. Half of me agrees with you, but I get used to it. And, anyway, I can’t beat Mariah up for 3 reasons. 1) Mariah and her gang will beat me up first, as its either 2-11 or, worse, 1-11 2) There are teachers on duty all the time, even though Mariah never gets caught 3) I am as weak as a mouse in a trap. So, is that proof enough for you?
