Chapter 3: War, Blood, and Vampires
Three weeks later, Adam had completely forgotten about his dream. He was staring at the news on the TV. Jewel was sitting next to him. They were at his house. The TV news showed regular stuff: Accidents, crimes, etc. Then, he saw them; fangs on her teeth; sharp fangs. Then, the dream came rushing back inside his mind. He thought about it. Was she really one? If you figured out the thing, don’t tell anybody. Later on, if you got it correct, tell the world. Just then, they saw a huge picture at the top right of the TV screen. Then, he saw the picture. Soldiers from the army were fighting black cloaked men at JEWEL’S HOUSE. “It appears the US has started a war with Dracula’s famous race…” the reporter began, but Adam didn’t need to hear much more. He jumped up. Now he was sure. He looked at Jewel. He did not expect much less than the twisted shape of horror on Jewel’s face. Both of us were aghast about this news. Then, Adam burst through the door. Jewel ran over, picked him up, and they both ran off towards Jewel’s house.
Adam saw the mansion. It was ripped into three pieces already. On one side, Adam’s parents were talking to a general of the US army. On the other, Jewel’s father and mother were talking to another black cloaked man. I was still standing in front of Jewel. Then, Adam mouthed these words. “You have sharp fangs. Your skin is pale. You never tell me too much about things. You…” “Well? What am I?” she asked, although it was more of a demand. Adam sucked in a breath. “Vampire.” he mouthed. She nodded slowly. Then, she asked him, “Are you afraid?” Adam looked at her with a straight face. “No.” he muttered. She slowly nodded. “Well then, answer the EASIEST question about vampires. What do we live off?” she muttered. Her eyes sparkled red, and for a second, Adam was scared, fear running through his body. He looked straight at her. “I know you won’t hurt me.” He muttered. She smiled. Then, disappeared into thin air, and reappeared about pretty far away. “Here, you ask your parents if they can stop this dumb war. I’ll ask mine. We’ll talk about this later.” Then, Adam walked off to his parents. “Mom!” he cried. “YOU HAVE TO STOP THIS! Both families will get killed!” his mom looked at him for one simple second, before she way too easily muttered, “You have no idea how dangerous those people are, Adam.” Adam looked at his mom, suddenly struck with worry, but most of all, hate. “Yes I do!” he protested. His mom looked up, and her eyes had the Leave-or-you-will-get-owned look. He gulped, and ran back to the front of the mansion. Jewel walked over too, clearly saddened. “Looks like your mom didn’t listen either, eh?” he asked. She nodded, tearful. “If this keeps up, both families will perish.” She was so into the problem that Adam had to pull her aside to avoid a cannon ball striking her. The cannons shot ammo that made the vampires get shredded into pieces. Another vampire next to me shattered into pieces, spreading gore across Adam. He flinched. Jewel looked at me for a simple second. She nodded, and then grabbed him, and once again they were running off. They stopped at the front of a humongous castle. Adam looked at her. She gestured towards the building. Adam took a deep breath, and they entered the humongous front door.
Okay, here is the first impression Adam got of the castle. 500 vampires jumped towards him. Jewel automatically started fighting with a sword inserted near her waist. It seemed very plain. Adam saw her chopping off heads, legs, and arms. He just stood there. Then, she threw him a sword. It was shiny, red and semi-transparent. He grabbed it, and looked at Jewel. “It’s called Bloodstriker. The sword easily kills a vampire. However, in order to kill one, you need to separate the vampire into 6 pieces: Arms, legs, Head, and body. He grabbed the sword, and started fighting fiercely. The blade WAS made for killing vampires. However, the whole entrance room was VERY gory after all the head chopping, leg slashing, and arm slicing. Adam tried his best to ignore the blood on his shirt, pants, face, and sword. He motioned to Jewel, who followed him into the next room.
There was a huge treasure chest in front of Adam and Jewel. Jewel said, “Open it, but be cautious. It might be a trap.” Then, he opened it cautiously. There was a sword inside. It had a green hilt and a yellow blade. Jewel walked over. She grabbed the sword, and threw aside her old plain one. “It’s Venomshank. This blade is known by vampires for its ability to remove all the poison from a vampire on first touch. This will be very useful.” Adam put his sword onto a clip on his waist. Jewel did the same. They nodded at each other, and walked through the door into the great hall, which was covered with…
Vampires. Jewel somehow quickly calculated how many there were. She groaned and then she muttered, “8000.”
