Chapter Twelve
Satama sent out one thousand infantry on ship and fifty trained vermin on trained giant dragonflies for the stronghold. He had done it when he realized that Magda had probably been destroyed by the fortress. He looked through a book called The Book of Subjugation. The book had history of great conquerors from the past. It even had an entry of King Satama the Evil. He read about strategies they had used to conquer and what they did on certain terrains. He got the giant dragonflies from an entry saying that Gorlin the Cruel found them in the jungle of Cintorolicko. He was in the K section, which had the most entries because the conquerors were Kings in that section. The nine entries by the K section were: King David of Munkrin the peaceful who was one of the founders of Munkrin and conquered by peacefully buying land from tribes, King Dill the Dull of Fort Cliffmore, now known as Blackmore, King Satama the Brutal of Blackmore, and others. Satama decided that he was bored with reading and went to watch the slaves in the compound.
Unfortunately for Sedu, she had been the only female who could work in the lumber. However, fortunately, she had earned large muscles like the males that they would use later. They were not as big as Otto’s who had been working on them his whole life, but they could haul many stone and lumber too. They had started to hide small knives and such for weapons in case they would need them later on. They knew that it would take a long time for Otto to gather enough woodlanders to defeat Satama, so they decided the least they could do was get ready. Sedu put some stones into a cart, which was going to the wall. Immediately, a trumpet made three short blasts, which meant that the slaves had to make way for King Satama. Sedu was so surprised she dropped a very heavy stone on Andi’s foot. Andi gasped in pain and threw a punch at Sedu angrily. That started a fistfight. A few people around Sedu and Andi started to creep away so they would not get in trouble.
When Satama came into the compound, he could not believe what he saw! A young female badger was brawling with a mouse and, the guards, instead of breaking them apart, took it as an entertainment advantage! Satama’s pleased attitude turned into a furious attitude. He, being the only one who was larger than the badger, took a whip from a guard and started to beat the badger and the mouse. The fight immediately broke up. “This causes lack of work you fools!” shouted Satama to the guards, “Next time this happens, I will make sure that you will do what I did a few moments ago.” one of the guards started to make an excuse but Satama grabbed his legs and chucked him against the north wall. “Silence!” shouted Satama and he marched back to the library, annoyed that the trip to the wall was ruined.
Andi glared angrily at Sedu and said, “Next time, don’t do that to me!” “I will if you try to punch me next time!” answered Sedu. Now they noticed thunder in the distance, telling the slaves that work would be much harder for the day.
