A/N: Ok so this is still kinda 'under construction' but I wanted to still share it with you all. I wrote this a while ago and was waiting until the time was right. I wrote this with the thought that  a lot of people, when they get married, find out that their spouse isn't who they thought he/she was. I kinda made this into a story, I guess. When You’re Not Around…

Lurking in the shadows,

Waiting, waiting, for you to leave,

And when you do

His true self is released

You see him,

And you think he’s perfect

With his good looks, and charming self

But his true self is masked when you’re looking

In the basement,

Hiding, somewhere, anywhere

There is a girl

And she values the time when you’re home

He would be stupid to go down

When you’re upstairs, even if you’re

Oblivious to what’s going on downstairs

He waits till you leave,

Waits till you are far, far, away

When he picks up the bat

And beats her body,

The same body that has already started to heal

From the last blow

Why must he reopen the wounds he caused?

She silently sobs,

As she hears you come through the front door

And she says a quiet thank you to God

It’s over for the day, she thinks

Her insides feel as if they have died

And she hopes the day she dies is soon,

The thought of Heaven, and what it is described to be

Tempts her to take her own life

Anywhere is better than here,

I’m just a doll, lifeless, and he is the little kid,

Playing with me, enjoying the fact

That he can do anything with me, she thinks

As she slips into the peaceful and painless slumber

She stopped fighting what seems to be forever ago to her

Because what’s the point?

When the little strength she had left in her is gone?

What’s it like being married to someone

Who you don’t know?

What’s it like being married

To the guy that beats her with a bat,

When you’re not around?
