My phone beeped. I went to go check who was texting me and found out that it was Henry. When I didn't reply, I got another message: Look, Di. I'm sorry. Forgive me.
Sounds more like a demand than a question, I said back.
It is a demand, Diana. You can't stay mad at me. Your mother and I are going to get married soon. I'm going to be your step-father so start showing some respect, he shot at me. I froze. Marry? I thought to myself. He proposed?
Di? he texted.
No, I said to him. I shut my phone and slammed it on the countertop. I can't believe it: Married!
