Brookshire Academy by Caleigh (or Klee) is a book that a lot of KidPubbers can relate to. Nevada, a wannabe writer, has spent most of her summer focusing on her book, because it's just what she loves to do. Day after day, she's up in her hideaway, writing, and writing, and writing.
All she wants to do is go to Brookshire Academy, a writing school especially for aspiring authors Nevada's age. It's her dream.
But, her friends don't agree. She spends enough time with that stupid laptop! What about when they used to go to the creek all the time? Challenging each other to do tricks, and just being what best friends should be like?
Elizabeth, Lynsie, and Lily--Nevada's friends--get way beyond selfish in this fun read. No spoilers!
The plotline is great, and I can relate to all of Nevada's problems, but I gave this a three out of five stars because Caleigh put a little too many of her own interests (lime green zebra print), and sometimes it was unrealistic. For example, Brookshire Academy doesn't sound like a school in some parts, because there's chocolate fountains, and spas. There were a lot of coincidences, too, like so-and-so who goes to Brookshire Academy with Nevada is actually siblings with so-and-so?
Overall, this is a fun read, and the intricate characters and story overpower the flaws in this book. If you're interested, click the link at the bottom.

Um, okay?
I digress. I have only read a few chapters of this book, but what I have read was high quality, a complete 4/5 stars. I don't know how the book continues- though I assume it's a continuation of the quality exposed in the beginning- but there is one thing I disagree with in your review, Mary Elizabeth-- I have actually read a fair amount of books with very, let's say, hip qualities. Such as chocolate fountains and spas. As for the coincidences, I have no idea, but I'm sure that your advice was meaningful and helpful. And about the interests of the author, why not? I tend to model some aspects of my main characters after me. You have to be able to relate to your characters, how else can you truly understand them? Overall, a good review, though. Short, sweet, and to the point.
