Okay, I've now seen the third Indy movie. Great, really great, but it just wasn't as great as the others, I'm sorry to say. Sure, there was some intriguing action scenes and narrow escapes, but it fell just short of being a five star movie.

Now, don't get me wrong. I loved it, and it's something I'd definitely watch again. But after the exciting beginning sequence, where young Indiana loses the gold cross and older Indy gets it back, it takes a while to get interesting. Even crawling through a tomb below a library and narrowly aoiding being burned to death didn't seem as exciting as it should have been. After that, it gets a little more fun as Indy and his new girlfriend are chased and Indy's almost cut to pieces by a boat propeller. Rescuing the dad was an exciting bit, and when Henry Jones Sr. DropsĀ Indiana's lighter while tring to burn through his bonds and sets the whole room on fire, I was really enjoying the movie. Escaping the Nazis was pretty great too, and Indy trying to pass the three tests to get the Holy Grail was suspenseful and interesting. And then my interest plummeted. It was unfortunately very predictable from there: the guy who followed Indy would pick the wrong cup and die; Indy would pick up an old wood cup that would turn out to be the real Holy Grail; he would return and save his father; the cup would accidentally be taken too far and the place would start to break up, and the father would do a noble and selfless thing and leave the Grail. The end had me laughing though, when we learn about Indiana's real name, and the fact that he named himself after his dog.

All in all, it was a great movie, and even thoug it had its slightly boring parts, the good WAY outweighs the bad.
