WOOOO! This book is the only book that I have ever read where I actually got caught in it and couldn't stop reading. It is about a portion of Gary's life where he learns the ways of the wild-- the hard way. He realized that wolves don't do right or wrong, they just do. They live around humans, who have taken their home and destroyed their family. We hate them because they eat us, but they only live like they do because they are forced to. He ands up in a bizarre race that seems impossible to win, or even get through alive. Then he starts hallucinating, and he gets freaked out and almost dies with his dogs, when this strange, mysterious man helps him onto his sled, tucks him under, and lets Gary sleep while the strange man drives the dogs. Gary thinks he is real, but then he vanishes., and he is baffled. He somehow ends up almost dead a bunch of times, and always the man comes back and helps him. THis book is the best ever!!!!!
