The Day My Parents Disappeared

          We were playing Monopoly.  That’s my favorite game.  And, well, I was having too much fun to wonder what my mom and dad were doing. 

          “I’m getting a snack.  Want to come with me?” I asked as I tripped over my suitcase. 

          “Girls.” “Yeah Mom.” “Grab me a Diet Coke.” “Whatever!” “Can I have a root beer?” “Go ahead.” “Yes!”

          After that I wasn’t sure what I heard.  I think it was a beer.  I heard a growl, and I ran to the hammock. Where did she go? We wondered. We grabbed our walkie-talkies.

          “We should split up.”

          “NO!”

          “What if we can’t find each other or mom?”

          “We need to stay together.”

          “Fine.”

          I really didn’t want to go into the forest, but we had to find mom. We walked in the forest, and I felt like I was being watched. By then, it was four o’ clock.

          “Where’s dad?”

          “He was supposed to be back by 3:45.”

          We were so busy playing with our phones that we were not looking up, and I ran into a fence.

          “Jenna, Jenna.”

          “What Shannon?”
          “Where are we?”
          We finally looked up and saw a ten story mansion. We looked up at the top floor and saw that the lights were on. All of a sudden, it started to rain. We turned off our phones, and put them in our pockets. We looked up again, and we saw a man in a lab coat with white, frizzy hair holding our parents by their shoulders.

          “Shannon! Jenna! HELP!” they shouted.
