I used to live every day

As if it were a curse

I used to live every day

Wondering how things could get worse

I used to be pessimistic

And look in the mirror and see

A girl with a miserable disposition

Frowning back at me

Now I take advantage

Of the advantages I have

I smile when someone's frowning

I laugh when I get the chance

God gave me a chance

To see the world for what it's worth,

To make it something beautiful

Or scorn the bad things on the Earth

I used to never smile

My life was upside down

Until I came to God

And He turned that frown around

I never saw the light

Till He showed up in the dark

I never saw the tears

Until He came into my heart

Now I take the chance

To get up every morning and smile

Cause you don't know what tomorrow will bring

You just have to walk that mile

God gave me the chance

To choose happiness or not

He gave me the chance to see

The difference between what I want and what I've got

Sometimes when I'm feeling down

I look at the world around me

And feel that I am blessed

To be with those who surround me

My friends, my family, even my teachers

And of course God, He's always watching down

Smiling and waiting as I slowly

Begin to turn my life around
