A little girl in sixth grade was always quiet in class. She never spoke or participated in activities. One Tuesday, the little girl came to school and sat down when the bell rang. She sat up straight and put her hand up so that the teacher could see her. The teacher, seeing that she had something to say and had never before, called on her. The girl began to speak. “Turn on the radio,” The teacher, curious as to why, turned on the radio with a questioning look. She tuned it to a station, and immediately heard, “ . . . The World Trade Center has just been hit by two airplanes . . .” The teacher fell into her chair and sat, shocked, looking at the child. The girl said, “My dad was on the first plane that crashed. And now I know that I should talk while I still have the time. I have a lot to say and I want to say it while I still can. My dad never spoke to me at all. Now I will not waste my time not using one of the gifts that God has blessed me with.”
