Chapter One:

Ted meets Ghosty

For my best friend who helped me write the Ted and Ghosty stories, Becky B. (Butterfly)

One day in the month of November, a bear named Ted sat on a shelf of the toy department on the forth story. He was so lucky because he got to sit next to the window that was the closest to the bakery. Every morning he would smell nice, fresh bread, but one day when the window was open, he sniffed too hard and fell out of the window! He fell and fell, SPLAT!! He fell right into the baker's pie. The baker was going to put the pie in the oven, but at the same moment the bell rang. "Time to go, oh darn." The baker said.

That night a cat came. His name was Ghosty. "What kind of cat are you?" He asked.

"I'm not a cat, I'm a bear!" Ted said, still in the pie.

"What kind of cat is that?" Ghosty asked.

"I am not a cat!" He explained, getting annoyed.

"Then why are you snooping around the bakery?" Ghosty asked Ted.

Ted shook his head. "I am not snooping! I am stuck!"

Ghosty finally understood. "OH! I will help you!" Ghosty proclaimed. They tried and tried but Ted was indeed stuck in the unbaked pie. Finally he was loose, but just then the baker came in because it was the morning already.

"Oh no! Look what this cat has done to my pie!" The baker said. Ghosty immediatly jumped on top of the baker's head. "HELP! A vicious cat is on top of my head!" The baker yelled.

Ted, being loose, got out of the pie and clattered some dishes on the floor to distract the baker. Ghosty jumped off of the baker's head and the two escaped.

"Come with me I will show you my home," Said Ghosty, after the two got out of the bakery.

Ted shook his head. "No, I am not good enough to see the house of a cat!" Ted shook his head some more. But Ted was very wrong! Ghosty lived in the ally in a dumpster that had a mattress in it for comfort. So Ted lived with his new friend, Ghosty.
