And yeah, I think that’s 20 right? Anyway, so, you get the picture, a lot of people were coming. And, to make matters worse, today was Wednesday. Livia and Mom were running around the house helping me set things up. Dad was coming home on Christmas from the war he was in. I was just glad he would be back with us, even if it was only for a month. He’s always gone.

“Sweetie, can you hand me that hammer over there, please?” Mom asked as she was up on the latter putting up a Merry Christmas sign over the kitchen doorway.

“Here Mom,” I said handing the hammer up to her.

“I remember my Winter Party.” Livia said over by the T.V. setting
up the stereo. “Of course, that was at the old house and Dad was
here.” she sighed.

By the time we were done it was 4:30pm. 30 minutes till the guests
would arrive. The food and refreshments were all laid out on the table. The stereo was set up. The CDs were set beside it. All the signs were up. Balloons covered the ceiling and shimmering silver streamers were hanging from the windows. Our house was fairly big. It was a one story house, but still really big. The coolest part about it was that the carpet in the living room was removable and underneath it was smooth wood that was excellent for dancing on. It also was the same for the family room which was through the hallway and across from the kitchen.

The carpet was folded up, we were all set and ready for the guests.

Deanna arrived first at 4:45 and then Bradley at 4:55. Freddie
arrived right at 5:00 along with Molly and Cameron. At 5:10 ten people came at once; Jessica, Roxy, Zach, Kate, Kelly, Michael, Morgan, Jake, Jack and Nathan. Then at 5:15 Sean, Rebecca, Jeorge, Chris and Kristy arrived.

We started with refreshments and then cranked up the music. Then
we went to pizza and ice cream. Cameron and Michael ate the ice cream first and then the pizza. They said they had to eat dessert before dinner at least one time in the year. What idiots.

By 8:00 everyone had had their fill in food and were dancing. Funny how Cameron danced with Molly and they hardly new each other, they weren’t even in the same grade! I was also surprised to see that Freddie wasn’t dancing with anyone.

“This must mean you didn’t invite his crush.” Deanna whispered, seeing that I was watching him.

“I suppose,” I mumbled.

“It’s your only chance to get to dance with him.” Deanna said.

“How can I ask him to dance knowing that he likes someone?”

“I don’t know, if you knew he liked someone why did you invite him?” Deanna asked, staring at me.

I didn’t take my eyes off of Freddie. “I don’t know, why did he
even come?”

“Why DID he come?” Deanna repeated, giving me her ‘secret’ smile
that she gives me when she knows I’m thinking too hard.

My favorite song came on, Listen To Your Heart, and I was about to go talk to Livia who was walking around with a drink when I saw out
of the corner of my eyes that Freddie was making his way over towards me.
