The Magical Night before Christmas
It was the night before Christmas and all through the Great Hall,
Everyone was dancing at the Hogwart’s Yule Ball.
There were candy canes all floating high in the air,
People hope they could catch one just high up there.
All of the students were having much fun,
Even I couldn’t help smiling even if the dance was close to be done.
And Harry Potter looking his best and it was he that I could never offend,
We would have fun all night as if it wouldn’t end.
When out in the sky came such a sight,
It was so peculiar I gave Harry a look of fright.
Away to the windows we flew like the stars,
For we had to know what it was, like we saw a thing from mars,
Harry and I saw, just what a sight,
It was a sleigh and 12 dragons gracefully in flight.
The driver was a lady, so full of beauty and grace,
She couldn’t be Santa, I could tell by her face.
More beautiful than a goddess, I just think,
Her mood was like Santa though, I thought with a wink.
The lady drove those dragons, and towards the Hogwart’s Castle they came,
She called the fire-breathers by each of their names,
On Flamer, on Sunshine, on Starlight, and Moon,
On Midnight, on Sunrise, on Rainbow, and Doom.
To the top of the castle, from that very wall,
Now fly off to there, not with your flame-breath at all.
So up the castle, that’s where they went,
With thought of every little second they spent.
The dragons landed on the roof with a bash,
The enchanted ceiling of the Great Hall seemed to have crashed.
The dragons seemed really happy of the damaged roof,
So what? They are dragons not reindeers with each foot, a hoof.
As Harry and I turned around, we couldn’t believe our eyes,
For the lady seemed to have apparated right just out from the skies.
She was dressed all in silk from her head to her foot,
And her clothes weren’t at all tarnished with ashes and soot.
With her wand, she waved it with joy,
And she created everyone presents possibly a book or a toy.
Her eyes were shining and we knew what we would call her,
For we knew that this was Santa Claus’s daughter.
We would call her Kris and nothing more,
For she didn’t say anything but walked out the door.
Without one pause, she went the wrong way,
But she actually did it on purpose, to call her dragons and sleigh.
Kris did something I wouldn’t forget,
She accidentally tripped into the lake and got all wet.
She smiled a smile and looked strait at Harry,
I went towards him and he felt quite merry.
Kris sprang to her sleigh and with a wave of her wand,
In two seconds flat I knew she was gone.
But what was wondrous was her face,
For I looked like her, which wasn’t too much of a disgrace.
Everyone went back to dancing, because it was a ball,
I wondered if it even happened at all.
I knew it was true but this was Harry and I,
We were dancing until the music would die.
The question was, who was she,
For I was certain Kris really looked like me?
In a distance I heard a soft voice cry, “Merry Christmas to all for this magical night!”
