A sudden Change of Scene

"Yeah, come on Sir Rocky, knock the livin' daylights out of 'im!" Many fans and supporters of London's most successful jouster for centuries, Sir Rockford, were roaring and cheering him on. It was the twenty-seventh of February in the year 1404 and the weather could have not been more perfect for the joust to decide the English champion. In the midst of this excitement and anticipation, there was a small skinny fifteen-year old boy who went by the name of Tom. He was a young, hard-working apprentice to a rich merchant who was the owner of the Red Lion Tavern and Inn. Being allowed to come to such a special occasion with his master was an enormous treat for a boy like Tom, but yet he still wanted more.

"I wonder what this place will be like in hundreds and hundreds of years," Tom thought to himself. "I wish I could be there to see what it will be like." Those words that the boy spoke were going to have more of an impact on his life than he could ever have imagined. At that moment, Tom's senses seemed to be fading away. Suddenly, he couldn't smell the wet, dusty wooden benches. Suddenly, the spectators' shouting didn't seem so deafening any more, and then everything disappeared and it was just black and darkness fo r what seemed like years.

"Oy, ice-cream boy, wake up and bring some ice-cream over 'ere," shouted a loud Cockney.

"Wh-where am I," Tom murmured to himself, dazes. Despite some strange fatigue nagging at him from the back of his head, Tom reluctantly fought against it and tried to keep his eyes open so that he could attempt to figure out his whereabouts. As if in answer to his prayers, another ice-cream boy strolled along and appeared to be walking toward Tom.

"'Ello Tom, boy are we lucky to be here at Wembley today, did you see that goal that Pires scored - wow that was superb!" The other young boy appeared to be friendly, but now, Tom was concentrating on other things rather than listen to that motor mouth.

"W-Wembalee, eyes-cream, what is all this gibberish?" "Why doesn't anybody speak English here," thought Tom frustratedly. Suddenly, Tom walked forward a little bit and looked down. What he saw nearly made him drop his ice-cream. Below him was a vast green field with many men wearing brightly coloured shirts, it was amazing. Tom was slowly starting to enjoy this strange encounter.

"I don't want to go back to my town," thought Tom. And so what happened to Tom afterwards is anyone's guess as he walked off excitedly into a strange new world.
