BRINGGGGG BRINGGGGG!!!!!

I rolled over in bed. This was especially tough becuase I was wrapped up in my blankets like some sort of a mummy. I saw 6:00 on my digital clock. At first I wondered why I had set my alarm to this strangely early time. Then I realized. It was the first day of school in California for me.

Now, this wouldn't have been so bad if it was the OFFICIAL first day of school. But no. It was the middle of spring. I knew what this meant. Cliques had been formed, all of the friends had been picked, and all the couple were together. Back home in Wisconsin, I had always pitied those poor people who came in the middle of the year. Those people were practically social misfits forever. You can't shake the image of "new girl".

Anyway, I jumped in the shower and washed my hair. Then I blow-dryed it. This usually make my hair staticy, but not this time. I wonder if it's because of the L.A heat. Whatever it is, it's probably the one thing I actually like about this place.

I had picket out my outfit a while ago. Chic black capris with a red plaid button-up shirt. Under the shirt, I had a white tank top. I also had gone to thrift stores and found some really nice red sneakers with glitter on the sides. I looked cool and matching. I know the people in L.A are savvy dressers, but I was sure I could measure up in these duds.

I forced down some cereal and orange juice, put on my bookbag, and ran out just as the big yellow bus came rambling down the street. There were quite a few kids in the trailer park in line for the bus.

And at that precise moment, I saw him. The cutest boy ever. He had on a beat-up denim jacket and ripped jeans. And that's when I knew what the best thing about moving across the country was. He was.
