I stared at him.

"It's Alene, not alien." I said coldly.

He looked at me, a little puzzled. Okay, maybe I shouldn't be so sensitive about this name thing. But who would ever want their nickname to be alien? Not me!

"Okay, Okay. Sorry...Alene." He smiled at me, and I felt my whole body tingle with happiness.

Before I knew it, the bus pulled up to one of the nicest school buildings I have ever seen. Huge glass windows, so sunlight was always pouring through them. AND I could see an indoor pool, a huge one with sun chairs next to it. Sun chairs? In a school? Oh, well, it was totally cool. And every kid was smiling like they were totally happy to be there.

I was one of the last to get off the bus. When I did, half of the crowd of students were gone. Probably went to their classes. I looked down at my schedule that was in my hand.

FIRST PERIOD- BIOLOGY- ROOM 1O1.

Science is definitely one of my least favorite subjects. But hey, I could put up with it. I walked into the building.

"Um, excuse me, where's room...uh... 110?" I asked a girl with braids. She was tall, and looked like an upperclassmen. She smiled.

"Just go around this corner, then turn left. Second room on the right." She waved and walked off. She did look a little puzzled, like, why was it spring and I didn't know where my class was? But I didn't care. As long as I got to biology on time, it was all good.

I walked into the room. Everyone was talking, and no teacher was there. Then I saw him. The boy in the beat-up leather jacket. He still had it on.

"Hey, it's the alien girl from the bus!" He said, smiling. I smiled back. Maybe I could learn not to be so sensitive about the name thing.

"Hey! Sorry, but I never got your name." I said back.

"It's Johnny. Johnny Thornton." He said, smiling even wider than before.

We just continued smiling at each other. Then the teacher walked in.

"Hello students. Today we are studying Moby Dick and the allegory of the whale in the story. Sarah, please tell us what you read about last night in this book."

I began to worry. Moby Dick in a biology class? And then I saw a sign to the side of the board. 11TH GRADE A.P ENGLISH said the sign. I gasped. First of all, this meant Johnny was two years older than me. Second, it meant he was smart. A.P stands for Advanced Placement. Third, IT MEANT THAT I WAS IN THE WRONG CLASSROOM!

I stood up quickly. Everyone in the classroom turned to look at me. So did the teacher.

"I..uh.. am in the wrong room. You see, I'm sorta.. new here."

The teacher just smiled. "Where do you need to be?" He asked. "Room 101." I answered, "Isn't this room 101?"

He shook his head. Then Johnny stood up. "Mr. Boligrah, can I take her to the proper room?" Mr.Boligrah nodded once more, and before I knew it, Johnny grabbed my hand.

"Come on!" He said with a grin.

"Thanks so much, Johnny." I said slowly.

He shrugged. "No biggie. Happens a lot with new kids, I suppose."

Then he led me into the right room, and whispered to the teacher why I was late. Then the teacher turned around, and put out his hand.

"Hi, I'm Mr. Snyder. Welcome to freshman biology. And your name is...?" He asked.

I got nervous. "Alene Morris. That's ALENE, not alien."

Then the class burst out laughing.
