It was breezy end of summer afternoon and my best friend Tia and I, Jasmine Porter, were taking a walk through one of my favorite places. The woods behind my house. “So T” I began, picking at a leaf “What do you think seventh grade is going to be like?” Tia stopped and stooped low to smell a flower then she picked it up and began to twirl it by the stem. “It’s not going to be anything like elementary school that’s for sure!” she giggle walking along “For instance there are going to be a lot more cute boys”. I smiled “Yeah but, what else. I mean I’ve been thinking a lot about all the other cute girls.” I frowned and began to pick at the leaf again. “Oh come on Min, if your worried about Ian I’m sure nothing is going to happen.” She nudged me “I’m sure that your still gonna be able to crush on him in seventh grade.” I lightly laughed and shook my head. Leave it to Tia to make me smile. “I bet but think about all that homework!” Tia flipped her wrist “Who needs it?” “And your just taking this lightly?” I asked shuffling my feet along. Small clouds of dust appeared. “Not a big thing”. “Not for you Mrs. A student?” I said sarcastically nudging her along. “Okay, okay you’ve got me there. But why Min? Why do you always have to worry?” I smiled “Do you relize how much trouble you would get into if I didn’t worry?” I asked. “Whatever!” Tia mimicked in a high voice. “Shut up!” I pushed her on the arm and began to run home.
