Once upon a time there was a good king who had three sons. The king fell gravely ill and it was thought that he would not live another week. A wise old man in the kingdom told the king’s three sons that only the water of life could save the king.

“What is the water of life?” asked the youngest son.

“It is a secret from long ago and it has the power to heal,” said the wise old man.

“Where can it be found?”

“You must journey to the Lost Kingdom and there it may be found.”

“We shall go and find it!” exclaimed the youngest son.

The very next day, the first and oldest son set out on horseback to find the water of life.

“I hope he finds it and brings it home to save our father,” said the youngest son to his brother. “Who knows where it might be in the lost kingdom.”

When the oldest son went to the lost kingdom, his horse tripped on a stick and tumbled down. So he got off his horse and walked in the lost kingdom with the injured horse waiting outside. First he went to a well to see if the water in there was the water of life. However, there was nothing but dirty water. Second, he found a torn down castle and guessed maybe the water of life was used in the castle before it got torn down. He quickly went inside, but there was a very strong guard there. The guard spotted him and threw the oldest son to the other end of the kingdom before he could breath. At the place where he landed, he found a treasure chest and began to feel very excited. When the oldest son opened the treasure chest, all he found was dirt. And just after he opened the treasure chest, there was a rumble from underneath. He looked down and saw that lava was coming toward him. He cried for help and ran away as fast as he could without a drip of the water of life he was looking for.

Since the oldest son couldn’t make the journey, he asked the second son to give a try to get the secret water of life. The next day the second son set out for the journey by horseback too. Luckily, his horse didn’t trip on a branch because the second son went to the lost kingdom another way. When he saw the lava spill that happened around the treasure chest, he was stunned. He moved aside and decided to eat dinner before getting in the lost kingdom.

The second son decided to sleep outside the lost kingdom and not to sleep inside where it was not safe. The next day, the second son woke up very early. He ate a quick breakfast and went inside the lost kingdom to look for the water of life. He first went to the same torn down castle that the oldest son went to, and he saw the guard too. The guard stepped up to catch him.

The second son tried to confuse the guard by saying, “Na, na na na na, you can’t catch me.” But the guard didn’t listen and chased the second son away. The second son was terrified that the guard just chased him without listening, and said out loud to the guard, “Ha, ha ha ha ha, you didn’t catch me yet.” Before he could turn around to run away, the guard tied up the second son.

Back at the king’s castle, the oldest and youngest child stood in king’s bedroom, and wondered what took so long for the second son to come back home.

The oldest child suddenly remembered the guard, and he knew how strong and scary the guard was.

He told the youngest son, “I think I know why our brother takes so long.”

“Then tell me,” said the youngest brother.

“Well, you won’t understand it,” the oldest brother said.

“Tell me anyways,” said the youngest brother who was confused why the oldest brother wouldn’t tell him.

“All right,” said the oldest brother. “I think that the guard chased him or did something bad to him.”

“I don’t get it,” said the youngest brother.

“That’s why I told you that you won’t understand what I meant,” said the oldest brother. “You have to go to the lost kingdom to know who the guard is.”

“Oh, now I get it,” said the youngest son. “So, are you saying that I should go to the lost kingdom to find the water of life,” said the youngest son.

“If you really want,” said the oldest son. “But I am not encouraging you.”

The youngest son was very curious and decided that he would go find the water of life.

“Here I come, the water of life!” shouted the youngest son as he also went there by horse. By night, the youngest son already at the lost kingdom, but he did not know where to go next. So the youngest son decided that he slept for the rest of the day and started his journey tomorrow.

Next day the youngest son got up and went straight inside the castle because the guard was out guarding the second son. Inside the castle he found a bottle of the water of life! The youngest brother saw a big guard when he was going out, and he also saw a body like his brother tied up beside the big guard. After that, the youngest son quickly ran back home.

When he arrived at home, he shouted, “I found the water of life!” The guard of the castle quickly let the youngest son go in. Then the youngest son told the oldest son that he found the water of life

“In a castle?” the oldest son asked. “I think that is where you got it from.”

“So the guard was guarding the castle when you went,” said the youngest son.

“Right,” said the oldest son. “Let’s find our missing brother.”

“But first let’s save our father,” reminded the youngest son.

“Oh yah,” said the oldest son. They rushed in the king’s room. The king drank the water of life and recovered immediately. The youngest son told the king that the second son was tied up in the lost kingdom. The king went to the knight’s room and told every knight what happened. After that, the knights charged for the lost kingdom and blasted the guard. They untied the second son, and then they went back to the castle.

“Wow, the adventure was sure cool!!!” shouted the second son. The second son shared his adventure with his brothers. Everybody stayed happy and the king never had any more sicknesses as serious as the one he had before.
