The Mystery Of The Circus Clown

One bright day, there were two boys named Joe and James. They were brothers. Joe and James were in front of the stage of the show, “Circus Talk”.

The show had just started and a voice said, “Welcome everyone to the Circus Talk. The first performance will be Talky, the talking elephant.” There were applause for a minute and then an elephant came on stage.

The trainers tossed a peanut and the elephant grunted, “Thank you.” There was more applause.

The elephant was just about to finish its role when a clown came in front of the elephant and said, “All of you must go or you will be sorry,” The clown threw bugs and scared everyone away. Then when the two brothers looked through the storm of bugs, both the elephant and the clown were gone. The circus’ business was doomed.

Then somebody came and said, “Hello, I am Nathan Hilos.”

“Hello,” Joe said back.

“You people should be out with the rest,” said Nathan, “After all, you would be sorry if you stay.”

Then noticed a book and asked, “What is that?”

“None of your business,” said Nathan as he stomped out of the circus.

They left and Joe said, “We might have a mystery that needs to be solved.” They went to their hotel room and fell asleep.

Next morning, they went to the breakfast table to eat. They sat there and waited.

Finally, a waiter came and said, “Can I help you?”

“Yes, how about an egg for each of us,” answered Joe.

“We only have clown mix-up eggs,” said the waiter.

“O.K.” said Joe.

The waiter was just about to leave. Joe noticed that the waiter had the same book as Nathan. Joe asked, “Can I look at that book? It looks familiar.”

“No way, it’s my secret clown costume book!” answered the waiter angrily. He walked away as Joe and James ate their clown mix up eggs. When they finished, they went out of the hotel and waited for the bus. However, all of the buses that were available didn’t go to the circus.

“Strange,” said Joe after waiting a long hour. Then another bus came, but it was going to the airport.

“I think we missed it,” said James. They got impatient and started to walk to the circus. When they arrived, the circus was already closed. They had arrived at eight and the circus was supposed to be closed at eleven. “Even stranger,” said James stood at the entrance gate.

Then Nathan Hilos arrived and asked, “What are you doing?”

“Trying to go to the circus,” said Joe quickly.

“Well I am going away,” said Nathan as he walked away. When he was gone, James found his book lying on the sidewalk. He picked it up and started flipping the pages of the book. At the last page, he saw a clown having the same design with the one that freaked people out.

James showed it to Joe and said, “I think we need to set a trap to catch the person that is destroying the circus’ business. First, we pretend that there is going to be another Circus Talk show, then the manager can let us borrow the elephant and trample him down.”

“That sounds like a good idea!” said Joe. They sprinted to the manager’s house and rang the doorbell.

“Hello, what can I do for you,” said the manager. They told the manager their idea and the manager said no.

James asked, “Why?”

“Because I might get the circus to bankruptcy.”

“You’re getting it bankrupt right now by leaving the bad person to destroy your business.”

“Oh fine,” said the manager realizing what it did.

The next day, they got a crowd of people as the show began. The manager hid the elephant as Joe and James pretended to do funny stuff. Then, the clown showed up again but the elephant ran and trapped the clown.

“I think you should unmask the clown,” said James.

“O.K.” said the manager as he grabbed the mask off.

Joe and James looked at the face and said, “Nathan Hilos.”

“Yes and my plan would’ve worked if you weren’t here.”

Joe and James got confused and asked, “Why did you do it.”

“Because the thing I didn’t tell you was that I also worked at the circus,” said Nathan, “I worked at another circus which had nobody there because of him,” he pointed at the manager.

Joe asked, “What about the waiter?”

“He helped,” said Nathan. Then the police came. They took Nathan and the waiter (from the hotel) and drove away.

“Well I guess there are going to be no more creepers here,” said James as they drove back to home.
