Sunflare opened his eyes. A big fly was resting on the tip of the spike on his nose. He shook his head and got up.
Morning had fallen over Dragontopia, and Sunflare was hungry. So he walked to the orchard, and then plucked a date from it's tree. Then he spit out the pit and took another date. When he finished eating, a black dragon swooped from the sky and landed in front of him.
"What's up, Nightglide?" Sunflare asked her. Nightglide looked nervous. "Father!"(She was one of Sunflare's children.)"There are 99 men heading for Dragontopia!" Sunflare shuddered. "What else?" Nightglide replied, "I heard one them say if there are any dragons there we'll be rich when we sell them to a zoo or something."
Chapter One
My name is Timmy. Lately, I've wondered when the dragon named Sunflare would come back. Then, I saw him land in front of me. "Sunflare!" I yelled.
"I was told that 99 men are heading toward my homeland, Dragontopia, and they're going to sell us for...""Money?" I asked. "Yes." I rolled my eyes. "Some people care too much about money. They must be stopped!"
I climbed onto Sunflare's back. Then, Sunflare spread his fiery looking wings, jumped, flapped, and we flew off to the rescue.
It wasn't long before we saw the men and they didn't see us! We got ahead anbd then Sunflare turned and shot 10 fireballs, which blocked their way. "A diversion!" I realized.
Then we continued on our way. 16 minutes later we saw a ring of mountains. Inside the ring was a beautiful land. The waters were sparkling, there were wide meadows, vast plains, quiet forests, and ripe orchards. There was even a castle of blue and green in the middle of the place.
"This," said Sunflare, "Is my home, Dragontopia." "It's wonderful." I said. And it was.
Chapter Two
"Okay, hod on tight!" said Sunflare. Then he spilled air from under his wings, and we went straight down, faster and faster. When we were about 9 feet above the ground, Sunflare quickly moved so that his feet faced the ground. We had touched down near the castle.
Then there was footsteps and wings flapping, and a qhole lot of dragons arrived on the scene. There were black dragons, blue dragons, white dragons, green dragons, red dragons, orange dragons, spotted dragons, striped dragons, purple dragons, yellow dragons, and even pink dragons! Then, a blue dragon stepped out of the crowd.
Somehow, I knew it was female. She came up to Sunflare, and said, "Sunflare, who is that?" She pointed at me. I answered for Sunflare. "I am the boy who freed Sunflare. Call me Timmy." I said. The dragon crowd oohed and awed.
"Where's Nightglide?" asked Sunflare. "Nightglide?" I asked. Sunflare told me that Nightglide was the name for one of his daughters. A striped dragon piped up. "I know where she is! Sunflare, she-she g-got c-c-c-captured!"
Meanwhile, away from Dragontopia, Nightglide struggled desperately to break free. "Father," she gasped. "Please help!"
Chapter 3
"Nightglide! Nightglide!" we shouted. Again, Sunflare was in the air and I was on his back. It was evening. Then we saw the men. But there were only 60 men! We also heard a faint "Help! Help!" "That's Nightglide!" said Sunflare. Then we landed by a big cage.
Inside was a 6-foot tall black dragon. "Daddy!" she said. "I don't get it." I told Nightglide. "There were 99 men, but now there's only 60!" "The otheres went to look for firewood." She told me. "We'll get you out!" said Sunflare, and he started pulling two of the bars apart. When the bars were apart far enough, Nightglide stepped out, said thank you, and flew away.
Then the last 39 men arrived, and we quickly hid. "Hey!" One of the men came to check on Nightglide. "The beast is missing!" Then Sunflare shot a flame that scorched the man's pants! "Yowwwwww!" He ran to the others. Then, Sunflare rose into the air and headed towards them.
They saw Sunflare just in time for him to shoot some fireballs. One of the men who was the leader, threw a lasso, which Sunflare caught in his tailclaws, and pulled. But Sunflare was stronger. He pulled the man into the air!
Whenever Sunflare got caged, he burst out with and energy ball. Then, Nightglide appeared, and she held up a basketball-sized object.
"An energy bomb!" said Sunflare. "Look at me!" said Nightglide. Silence. "Should I throw it?" Gasps. "YES, I WILL!"
She threw the bomb.
Chapter 4
Next, there was a big explosion! The men got covered in dirt!
Sunflare told the men that you can't take something just for money, and made a truce. He then took me on a tour of Dragontopia. He took me home next. He was probably thinking, now we are safe.
