in the big huge world
This is absolutely my favorite poem. I really enjoyed writing it because that's really how I felt. I just wish that every kid who ever wanted a bike could ride one, because it's so refreshing and sends all your troubles away. I know that not everyone, unfortunately, won't ever even see a bike, but I can help by finding ole bikes and refurbishing them. I hope you enjoy this poem also, because it is the one I like the most.

The Bike Ride
I get onto my bike
It’s a little bit big
I don’t give a care
The sky is so blue
Not a cloud in the sky
Yellow buttercups
Surround me-
Me and that old road
Grass could never be
Greener-
Birds could never sing
A more beautiful song-
Than on that little bike ride
I took that day.
Still going strong-
Though it’s completely
Silent
The sun is tucked away
Behind the rolling hills
Far away
Far far away
And I say to myself
I’m so glad that the
Day
Is leaving me behind
In the darkness of night
To be totally alone-
Totally alone.
Although it is night
And the stars are out
The moon is shining so brightly
It feels like the day
And though my joints hurt
Terribly
I’m still riding
Along
The wind is pushing me
On that cold winter night
the air is so crisp
My jacket is tight
But I still love that ride
I took on my bike that night.
I’m flying in the air of winter’s
First night
Holding on so tight to
That rusty old bike
With a broken up seat
That’s a little bit big
But I don’t really care
I've got that flying sensation
Of wind in my hair
As I fly so high
I can reach the stars
And grab one
To make a wish
On that rusty old bike.
The first ray of morning
Sends me riding back home
To the place I belong
Where the buttercups grow
And...
Although it’s winter
The sun shines warmly
And my legs grow tired
From working so hard
Pedaling up to the sky
Cruising back down with
A star that I caught for I wish-
And my rusty old bike.
I wish, I wish,
That every child
On Earth could once,
Just once,
Ride a bike
So they could feel
The flying sensation
I felt on that night...
On my rusty old bike.
