in a state of constant wonder

Raindrops rolled down the clean, glass windowpanes. A young girl stood outside, in the cold rain, dark hair slicked back by the wetness. Raindropss fell down her face and splashed off the end of her small, sharp, nose, and hit the ground. Her light amber eyes penetrated the window's glass.
Inside, the girl could see a small fire burning in a cozy brick fireplace. Someone was snuggled in a very big armchair, reading a big book with yellowed pages. She sighed and pulled a hood over her wet hair. Careful not to splash in any puddles, the girl made her way to the front door. She found a doorbell, and rang it one, two, three times. The figure with the book sighed loudly (she could hear through the thin sheet of glass in the door's window), and got up. They opened the door, took one look at the yound girl, and slammed it shut.
"Stupid beggars. You would think that our police would be able to control them. Look what it does to our neighboorhood! It's not nearly as a good place to live as it was two years ago," they grumbled. The girl ground her teeth and left. She smiled menacingly. For two years she had haunted they streets, avenues, and culdesacs of Green Valley Neighboorhood.
"And I, Serina, will never stop haunting these cheerful streets. I will not stop until Death itself comes and claims me in the darkness," the girl said. She laughed and walked away from the big house, quietly cursing as she cut her cold, bare feet on shattered glass.
