PROLOGUE

A man crept into a cave. He had once been a might mage, but the Dark Ones had cast him and all his kind out forever. They sent the mages through a sacred portal into a dimension far off. The mages hadscrambled, become like the cavemen, driven by the Dark Ones into another place so strange, and then cast out of the lands by fearful men wieldign spears. All they had left was themselves, their souls had wasted away long ago, their will had widdled into the smallest crinkle of the brain you could see, their might had become weak, and they shared their living quarters with the spiders and the flies and the worms. But one man dared to dream, dared to recall the might that the mages once had, and dared to dream that it could one day be this again. But the Mages of the Myst had long forgotten who they were, or where the other had gone off too. There was one torchering memory for which they found no hole to store and forget, it was the ever pounding memory of a signel black cloak, a single black cloak representing the reign of the Dark Ones for which there were no name, and even more so, they did not know what it stood for but they did feel dread and agony like a newborn son lost for beasts to come upon, but yes, one man still dreamed. And it was this dream, that saved two dimensions, and this dream, that brought backthe Mages of the Myst, and this dream.... that eventually saved us all
