One Day, 2 girls were playing near a tree in Springfield, Illinois. They noticed a log-house in it. Anne and Dolores climbed in it. Suddenly, it began to spin!
Anne said, “Look at these clothes! Who would want clothes like these?”
“I’ve got a book,” said Dolores.
“Let me see the cover,” said Anne. It said: “Early Indiana”.
Just then, they climbed down and met a boy in ragged clothes. “I’m Abe,” he said. “Do you want to spend the night?” he asked.
“Oh, yes,” Anne said.
Dolores looked in the book. It said, “The Lincolns moved to Indiana. Abraham Lincoln had to work like a man.” “Oh, neat,” said Dolores. “We are in the time of Abraham Lincoln!” Dolores read more, ”The Lincolns bought a place called Pigeon Creek. Later, a sickness came to Pigeon Creek. Many people died from it.”
“Oh, that’s so sad,” said Dolores to Abe.
Anne said to Abe, “ Did your family get milk sickness?”
“Oh, yes,” said Abe. “My mother died from it but we’ve got a new one.”
“We’d like to go home,” said Anne, “good bye.”
“I can’t believe it,” said Dolores. “It is so neat…wait a minute! We live in Springfield right? And, that’s where Lincoln lived. Imagine that!”
